I totally agree with you. Getting revved up for WWII is what finally pulled us out of the depression, not FDR's alphabet soup policies. Term limits should be in play, but do you think the elitist power hungry politicians will vote to put them out to pasture? Try that on Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and John McCain?

Hi Maggie. What a strange little essay you've picked to read. LOL This was basically just a rant. Guess I was feeling political that day.

Still, thanks so much for reading and reviewing. Glad I could provide you with some food for thought.

And you can bet none of their happy jack butts will be here when it does fall. They'll be overseas in their mansions made from the blood of soldiers. You hit it on the nail head with these words:

"Congress is a ruling class with no term limits, and, therefore, no incentive at all to make responsible decisions."

Think a petition of voters in every state would make it through Congress to change that law? LOL!

Super write!

    Hi Midnight,

Thanks so much for the kool review. You're a brother in arms, and fellow patriot. Now, all we have to do is convince everyone else. lol

I really enjoyed reading your response. It gives me hope.

    You are welcome.

(And the US public doesn't think there are dictators/rulers here?) The super rich control the political spectrum, always have and always will.

Exceptional with well founded background information that most of us are not aware of. While I've always felt that war was a commercial prospect, I was not acquainted with the historical information that others were warning the people.

Reality says that as it has been it shall remain...sadly.

Yes, you're right about how things remain the same. The only thing we can hope for is a major unforgivable scandal perpetrated by Congress that riles up the people enough for mass-protests and results in some kind of term-limits or regulatory committee to change how Congress performs its business.

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. So glad I could be informative.

Ike's words are much-quoted and obviously so very true. I try to be an optimist, to think that things will work out or that even if they don't, we still have it pretty good, but it's getting harder and harder to do. Maybe this is why I have so many dreams about living in a cave.

LOL... funny, especially since most Americans already live in a cave, figuratively.

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment.

You are absolutely one hundred percent correct in what you have put forth in this article. That is why there are so many poor people in this country. Because the tax payers money is spent on the rich and not the poor. Every one needs to read this article for it is the truth of what is really happening in this country... John

Thanks for taking the time to read, John.

I'm so glad you liked it and agree. I rarely write political opinion essays, and enjoyed posting this. So far, after posting this as a 'story' instead of a contest entry, I've gotten two reviews. One was from a Canadian who didn't see a problem with Congress and told me to get elected if I didn't like it. And, of course, this one from you.

Thanks for showing me there are others actually using their brain cells out there.
