This was great, you did a great job in holding the readers attention, the flow and voice were easy to follow. I believe in these type of stories, but I am still waiting for my ghostly encounter, I've heard some are perverted, and ravage the living, so naturally I want my ghost to be 6 foot 2, dark hair, muscular and with ..........

Hi Joann,
Yeah, and maybe with a 9 inch boo-ner? LOL
You're precious, Joann. Thanks for taking the time to read, comment, and so glad you liked it enough to warrant a sixer.
My ex never reported any amorous ghostly advances or assaults, but I did notice an almost supernatural improvement in her performance whenever she imbibed spirits. lol
Thanks again,
Christian

Good story, although, being a real skeptic, I think the author has a vivid imagination. Ghosts, or anything of that nature, remain outside the realm of possibilities for me. I like a good fiction piece, though. I admit to getting a chill at the thought of a man's unexplained footsteps above my head.
Good luck in the contest, author.

Thanks. Yes, I do have a good imagination, although this experience was not a product of it, despite your warranted skepticism of its authenticity.
Being a man of reason as well as a skeptic, I am forced to see things how they are, not how I want them to be. Therefore, I'm forced to face what I've experienced as it happened, no matter how inconcievable it was for me at the time.
I won't deny my memories to fit into how you or I believe the universe is or should be, but I won't jump to the conclusion that the things we can't explain are supernatural.
Does that make sense to you?
Regardless of all that, I truly wish this had been all just in my imagination. Maybe someday you will have to deal with something you have no explanation for and then be forced to deal with it, and this story will make more sense to you.
Until then, keep that healthy skepticism. It's the only true measure of intelligence.

It's well written and it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end. I would like to believe that it's not true but since you say it is I guess I'll accept that. It's scary.

Thank you, Judy.
Yes, it's all true, although I barely believe it myself. The reviewer before you doubted the story, and my first reaction was embarrassment, followed by self doubt, questioning my own senses and memories for the zillionth time.
I guess that's all I'm left with, memories of something I can't explain. A pragmatic outlook helps that. I trust my senses and my memories even though I can't explain what happened. I just tell myself that not understanding does not mean it's supernatural. It only means I don't understand.

I always LOVE hearing ghost stories from skeptics and yours was nicely told. Your ex-wife may have been right about the results of the negative influences you all picked up in the house. Thanks for sharing your story.

Hi Q,
Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. I'm glad it entertained, but can only wonder if the ex was correct. I guess I'll never know for sure.

Your story's edge comes from its complete honesty. You leave it up to us, but we're at a loss too. Some things in life are in the twilight zone and just can't ever be understood or explained. At any rate, thanks for the intrigue, and good luck in the contest.

Hi M,
If you think this one is strange you should read my other brush with the supernatural... when I met someone who fit SATAN's profile in real life, and followed that up with a disappearing act only a spirit or demon could pull off.
This is nothing compared to that experience, and yet I'm still a skeptic and an Agnostic, despite such strange things happening to me.
I guess I'm hard headed. Much like the witnessing of that cupboard door opening, I tend to put the inexplicable out of my mind. But, in my defense, I think it's more prudent to remain an open-minded skeptic who doesn't know anything, than to become a starry-eyed fool who doesn't know anything.
Thank you for your kind words, and taking the time to read.
