Yes, you have stated this so well. I am now so familiar with the gay community that I don't even think who is and who isn't. It makes not a bit of difference and my gay friends are happy to go out with us 'hetrosexuals'. In lines 11 and 12, I wondered about the rhyming....'understood' and 'world'. I could be wrong so have a look. All the best. Susan

The author's words are strong, creative and thought provoking. The poem flows and connects well. The artwork is perfect and compliments both the theme and
words of this poem.

I love this. I wish everyone struggling with being gay/lesbian could read this. It's not who you love that matters. What matters is how you treat people, do you make a difference in someone's life, are you happy, etc. Wonderful job

Hi, I am so pleased that you like my poem about being gay, I believe when people criticise, they are just ignorant. Mary

Amen. I can't believe God would condemn people for being gay, since many were born that way. I've heard many arguments, that God created male and female only...not true. There have been cases where a baby is born with both sexes, and of course, the parents have to choose. My point is...what's up with that? They obviously weren't created 'one or the other'...I'm not sure anyone is. Some are born straight, some gay. The gay people teach the world compassion, acceptance. They are born to straight couples...not a product of depravity. They are our children. They love us. We are to love them. If there is judging to do...the judgmental people need to stay out of it...and let God be the judge. I think God will love them as they are. Amen, blessings....

If we possess enough courage to speak out about ourselves, we will find we are not alone. The single best thing about coming out of the closet is that nobody can insult you by telling you what you've just told them. Thanks for sharing this inspiring poem.

We are all loved and shall be respected. Your poem touches the subject many people don't want to talk. Yes, it is a cruel and cold world, though, there are more freedom and support than it used to be. Well written, from the heart, my friend. With love, Ella

We've been watching the compelling ABC series "When We Rise," and it is very informative about the history of the gay movement in America. Your poem resonated many of the themes in this portrayal, and I admired your rhymed quatrains. Sighs- Joan

Thanks Joan, This was my very first poem to write on Fanstory back in 2013, I edited it and promoted it, I was not sure if it went into my new fans inboxes. Did you get it in your inbox?

Yes, I received the poem as a new message today. It is a sensitive observation of a tormented community. Well done- Joan

Homosexuality is a fact of life, and goes back to the year dot. Why society cannot accept it even today, is beyond my comprehension. Your poem highlights the problem and is a tribute to the gay community. A joy to read, love Dolly x

A very well-written poem. We are quick to judge the ones that are gay. We cannot ever reaally understand why? When someone close to you comes out of the closet. We think it is a choice but they are struggling for years with their emotions. We have no right to judge another.
