Hey Jaq...-smile- you know...I saw this guy on tv...years ago...someone had murdered his child....he got in front of those cameras...and said...."I forgive him".....and I was mad....thought it weak....then...the reporter filled with as much indignation as I said...why?...how?...he said..."I forgive him...because I wish to be forgiven".....there are different kinds of strength Jaq....I'm not as strong as some....but I do recognize it ...in time...when I see it. love you Michael

Yeah I do too really, for if you can't forgive you will never have peace of mind. Sometimes it's hard to get to that point. Thanks so much Michael and thanks for the help last night. Jaq xx

Comment from Sally Carter
Very nicely done. I don't generally spend much time reading religious poems, nor do I like pieces of work aimed at specific writers (please forgive me if this is not, but I think it might be). However this is general enough to be applicable to anyone who stands in judgement of others.
A lovely flow to it, a refreshing humility, not overlaid with preaching to turn away those of no faith.
I live the inclusion of that wonderful word "gaudete", which makes me think of Christmas carols and warmth and celebration.
Great job, and well done for undoing some of the harm that more fanatical believers can do to perceptions of their faith.
Best wishes
Sally

Sally thank you so much for a wonderful review. I do try not to write tit-for-tat poems. Sometimes when we feel a dis-service has been done we have to stand true. Your review is so much appreciated and this will not be an on-going theme from me :) Jaq xx
Comment from Earl of Oxford
Very dramatic and thoughtful free verse, Jaq.
I'd prefer it broken up at dramatic points to allow the reader to dwell and think more, but it works fine as is.
I wonder who that 'someone' is. Could be Jesus, or could be someone on Earth who's given you a bad time.
Cheers, Ray

-
I prefer 'thick' women, Jaq, as I don't feel so threatened. LOL! xx
-
Hahahaha well you have no worries there then. Or do you? Lol xx
-
I'm a compulsive worrier, Jaq.
I'm worried right now as I've run out of beer. :-) xx
-
LMAO that's a tragedy not a mere worry :) xxx

This is a unique way of putting it. Very interesting! I always say that the interpretation is left up to the reader.
It really belongs in the spiritual category, as well as 'general' it could get double exposure. Great choice of words and rhyme. I find it spiritually exciting, imaginative and educational. Thank you for sharing. Good luck and keep on writing.

This is a nice piece of religious or spiritual poetry. It shows an acute consciousness of wrong-doing and the need for forgiveness. very well done

this is a very powerful write Jaq with a clear message - you do not need forgiveness by anyone other than a higher being, not someone who claims to be speaking on God's behalf. Much the way I feel - I do not need forgiveness from a mere boy who I have no respect for either :) lots of love and sorry for the delay, but too much on my mind methinks :) Indie xxx

Though forgiveness among people is needed along the way, God--as your poem says--is the one who grants the ultimate in forgiveness for our sins.

A thought provoking work to read Jaq. From some of the work I've reviewed lately I was wondering the same thing.
Strong lines, direct question to the reader which starts the pondering:)
Thanks for sharing a well penned work.

You just taught a MIGHTY lesson in these beautiful, meaningful words.
"I shall be forgiven but only
by the God to Whom I pray
not by someone whose
preachings have turned
to dust along the way "
Great, great, meaningful poem.

You know, if I was religious I would believe that the only person I needed to be forgiven by was God. He, at the end of the day would be the one who would decide my fate, the one I would feel I was betraying most. Doesn't matter about others.:) xx
