Wow, just that simple, isn't it? It seems Mom's lessons of insisting that we rise above that animal instinct aren't heeded too much in this life. I don't care, I STILL refuse to be vanilla come what may...
Great job, simple method of story telling with much more than the words on the page to say. No wonder Charlie is your friend.
Fabulous. :) Carrie

This is an excellent chapter. It begins on a pleasant, humorous note, then progresses to a philosophical plane. And the dialogue is to die for.

Great life lesson. I enjoyed the start about how dumb the chickens are and following through to the conclusion that often times humans are no better. Good work.

Sorry I missed the beginning of this story. However, in reading this chapter I could easily tell that it is both well written and factual.
I know because I was raised on a farm and have seen chickens attack the weak or sickly many times. JW

Thanks for reading Jonathon. Some people actually asked me if chickens really do that. Yep. Regards, Bill

This is really quite the lesson Bill. To use the chickens as a device to explain this to children is awesome. You really nailed it.

Most enjoyable, Bill - I was lost - wish it had been longer. I had a chook called Mary and my dad strangled it because it stopped laying eggs -- I wouldn't eat for two days and wouldn't talk to my Dad for ages.
We used to look after our neighbours chickens
when the boys were young, and were allowed the eggs.
One day there was such a racket and when I went out to
see what it was all about - my two younger boys were racing the chickens - little devils.
but what does it have to do with Ernest[.](?)"
I'll get too it if - to it
So enjoyed this.

Hi Margaret. Originally, this was longer, but it seemed like such a natural place to end. You certainly know how difficult it is to write "bite-size" segments that will hopefully be rewritten more naturally. Always warm regards, Bill

This is a nice piece of writing. You use what you call dumb chickens to teach clever human beings the need to be tolerant of each other no matter our differences. kudos

I came upon this book in Hhe previous chapter when Rabbit was sent off to the farm before the baby was born...
Chapters don't stand alone but this one tells a story about the way of the world, cycle of life, strong survive etc.
Well written with a soft flow while reading giving the reader the ability to sit back, relax and enjoy.
