Nice effort! The only suggestion that you might consider is changing one word. That is "duplicity". The core meaning is deception, treachery, or betrayal. Since electricity does not think or strategize, if you will, perhaps something like "perplexity" would work? I can't complement you enough on the multiple other 5-7-5's that are masterful, even with the one scratchy word. From one 5-7-5 er to another. Good job!

Thank you so much GracieAnn. What a fabulous review and generous rating. I intended duplicity not as an adjective for electricity, but to convey the thought that we'd be left in the dark. Wouldn't that be treacherous?

This should be a strong entry for this contest. The narrative is very well written. The words are reasonably engaging and the flow is smooth. The message is universal and should resonate with most readers. It is also thought provoking. Overall this is a special piece. My only criticism is the lack of contrast between the background color and the font color. Unfortunately I have retinal problems, and this presentation was difficult for me to read.

Perfect word counts on ALL the 5-75 stanza...and then you gave the layers of that cake some frosting with the rhyming.
