Well told story, and very revealing as to the social classes and the complicated feelings one has about it own family. This is very well written, interesting story that keeps your attention.

Oh how I love this book! This is another very sweet chapter. The fight between Rabbit and his brother was just as one would expect, and brave, feisty little Rabbit wasn't backing down. His relationship with Virge is precious and I loved how Virge treated John, too. It was a marvelous touch to have the Preacher's sermon be about Cain and Able. Once again I enjoyed this chapter thoroughly!

I was hoping this was another chapter to my favorite book..thanks, just what I needed. I was hoping Rabbit would win but it all worked out in the end. I do like Verge, a wise man and a good friend. Good luck in the book of the month contest...voted for you!

The relationship between Rabbit and John is so realistic. Well written with a good plot. The piece is well constructed and the characters are interesting.

Excellent General Fiction! The read was very good and is so typical of brothers! It was interesting and thought provoking how the author brought Virge into the scene.
The artwork was eccentric and fit the tone of this read.
Thank you, harmony13

Haven't visited FanStory for awhile. When I did and saw your name, it brought back fond memories of your excellent writing style. Yes, it was difficult to jump into this without reading anything previously, but it shone on its own and I was thoroughly engaged. Best, Dan

My grandmother, Nan, was banging pots around in the kitchen.
One summer we were staying with my Grandma, which we called Mammie. They lived in the country. When the rooster, and cows, and banging pans didn't work on my brother. She hit him with the fly swatter. She said there was a fly, I'm not sure. LOL
My third son, Andrew was in HS when were were stationed in SC and our church had a program where the teenagers could go to some poverty areas and help repair some homes. During the summers Andrew always took part in this and the teens stayed in a church in that town. Well, on Suday's they would attend different churches for their services. Andrew's favorit was the Black churches because of the service and the meals. He still talks about them today and he's 27.

I have been enjoying this story for a while now and this chapter continues the pleasure. These two, Virg and Rabbit, have a wonderful relationship. It's good that Rabbit listens to him and learns about the importance of family. I smiled when Rabbit yelled out at church and I thought of a marshmallow standing up amongst all the brownies, not caring a whit about color.

Good story, better lesson for Rabbit and for some of us
also. It is great to write about family and reiterate its value.
Kind regards.

this is very well written, bhogg, you did an excellent job wirting this chapter where rabbitt tries to kick his brother's butt, but he's just too scrawny. virge saves him and sets them both straight. i enjoyed reading it.
