I understand it a little better, and I think I may have seen this movie after all. After it was shown on PBS, was it shown on A&E, before they became crime and reality show central?

Thank you for reviewing. It's the story of a guy whose dreams change reality. A psychologist hypnotizes him and tries to suggest dreams to create a utopia. The guy's mind interprets the suggestions differently and ends up creating a plague to end the population problem, turning everyone gray to end racism, and creating invading martians so men would stop fighting each other. "Based on Ursula K. Le Guin's novel and made for public television in 1979, this landmark sci-fi picture had been unbroadcast since 1983 when it finally surfaced on video in 2000. Essentially a classy variation on the admonition to be careful what you wish for because you just might get it, it was the first original film ever produced for public television and acquired a strong cult following on the basis of a handful of showings."

Wonderfully written example of a 5-7-5 Haiku movie review. Not familiar with particular, but looks very intriguing. Utopia becomes chaos, a common human experience. Very nice!

Okay, this is killing me. This is the second movie in a row that I haven't heard of. I might need to go see this one as it looks like a genre that I might like. I am guessing Habner and George Orr are characters. It fits the criteria of a haiku, so it's appropriate for this contest.

Oh I was seven and didn't have TV when it came out. Mama always said stay away from cults, so I apply that to classics too. Now I don't feel so bad for having missed it. Though it does sound interesting.
