Congrats on this road od self discovery, of adventure and even the golden years and the grey hair did not deter you from finding the other side of you that you have bottled up inside all this years. It's an upbeat poem ..not about love and anything tangible..it's about finding out more about what you wanted from life. Death is always looming at the edge waiting..and now is the time to venture and explore before our time is up. The lone walk may be a bit dangerous in view of the bad events happening. Do take extra precaution. Be safe, be secure and happy discovery - reminded me of the teenagers' adventure stories. Excellent write. A story from the heart to inspire others to better themselves and "The Time is Now!" as expounded in my poem. Cheers, Ritchiesszzky.

Thank you for your great sentiments. Yes, i value my life much, I always carry a cell phone. Thinking of a little puppy as well. (I think there an angel by my side).

Yes, a puppy or dog to follow you is good. Especially when alone and if there is an accident, the dog can get help easily.

If movement of limbs are limited due to a fall, a handphone may not be useful.

Yes, happy people always feel an angel beside them to share joy and to voice our little discontent at the angels, LOL. Cheers, Ritchie.

Your writing within in its framework of dialogue, characterization and the flow of the plot which seem to always blend nicely, makes one a part of the story.

Thanks

Superb story of "I am" as I see it being very personal, yet optimistic, filled with pride as you set it in beautiful description that surrounds you. Awesome! Les

Amada, this is such a beautifully written piece. I love your descriptive sentences, your similes and metaphors and personification. I love your sense of adventure, leaving behind old fears.

Here are some of my favorite sentences, but there were many many more:

it was the ideal place to jump rope and play hide and seek, feeling as if the tall trees, thick bushes and flying birds were my friends.

This morning the sky is at a halt from last night's rain.

For a long time I have felt hostage to my fears. My self-imposed restrictions suffocating me, disgusting me. Now, at a time when common sense says I should be slowing down, my spirit craves adventure, the thrill of the unfamiliar, like a late dove that it (take out the it) just starting to grow wings.

I have a few things for you to consider:

Maybe it started at birth; I was a premature baby, ( think a period would be better than a comma here.) I guess I couldn't wait to wander into a new world.

From my front door, just a mere turn to the left, then about three-hundred exhilarating steps of dirt road followed by a swift turn to the right, and in a couple of magic minutes I am at the entrance of a vast open space. (I think this sentence is a bit long and awkward. You may want to work on it and perhaps make it into two sentences.)

I pursue my way as my backbones (take out the s on backbone) moves in unison to my legs, like a marvelous, well-oiled machine.

rose-curtailed window (Is this rose-curtained?)

I keep my eyes in (Should this be on instead of in?) the nearby secure rocks.

I could really relate to this essay. I love being alone in nature - to dream, think, write. You are so blessed to have such a wonderful place to do it.

Love your essay,
ellen

Amada, this is an absolutely gorgeous write! Your prose is wonderfully descriptive and poetic - something I very much enjoy in prose writing. This is a fanstastic contest entry and surely deserves to be a winner. Good luck! Warmest regards, Bev

Good Evening, Amanda

This is beautiful and I do so appreciate the mind trip you've offered me with this vivid, wonderful read this evening. Your writing is truly excellent. I did not detect SPAGS, but did detect a well developed narrative. I admired how you described the physical environment around you.

The first comment about the hawk: A red-tailed hawk, with a spotted gray breast and broad extended wings, glides fast and low above me. I admire the force of wings, muscular and secure. I feel a hint of jealousy: he can rise above the ground.

is a favorite of mine as is the next the paragraph near the end starting with this line:For a long time I have felt hostage to my fears.

Well done, my friend!
-Ray

Very nicely written. I like you magnify a simple stroll the beach with your descriptive language. While reading I feel as I am in your place on that trail trying to reach the beach. Thank you for sharing.

The message I get from this is that we should try things that scare us. Take a few chances in this world because if we live in fear we will never accomplish anything. I don't know if that is the message you wanted to get across or not but that is what I got out of it. Great read, great message and keep on writing.

Thank you for letting us walk with you beyond the borders of your norm. You write as though you are alone in your journey, but little you did realize many readers will be with you. We also will lift our arm too as the hawk glides about our head as we share and embrace this Paradise you describe so well. I enjoyed our walk together.
