Excellent poem and theme. What we need to do to protect the future of our country. Unfortunately, spendaholics are in power and cannot be reined in. Let's hope they take your advice.

The way Congress has conducted itself as of late, I can only feel embarrassed at how our democracy is seen by the world, not to mention our votes and wallets. Thoughtful senryu. Best of luck in the contest.

That is a good point. They say the best people to talk to are those that live by good example. We voting for them, but they don't seem to sustain good examples once they are in. Human nature I guess. Point well said in the confines of a 5-7-5.

Hello. Very good message and picture attached. I didn't know we had a Congress anymore. I thought the executive had taken over and spent like there was no tomorrow left. Loved the message though. Good luck and cheers.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the entries to this contest. It has brought some hidden angst to the forefront. I saw on the news today that Obama claimed we don't have a spending problem. Oh well.... Bill

I'm am somehow grateful not to be in the next
generation. Between social security, medicare
and job shortages, it is a hassle.
Hopefully, our young will have the advantage of
a higher education and surpass our expectations.
I have good reason to believe this.
