This was a terrible tragedy and the accidental infections were uunfortunately repeated in many colonial outposts throughout the world, including my homeland of Australia.

Excellent writing. I always think about how little is said about the atrocity and Bad acts early settlers imposed on American Indians. There was one extra space here:
(" I) claim this land for the Queen"

First Encounter indeed those poor natives had no chance, it is really tragic history,that's a very well written poem.

That ending certainly leaves one speechless. I have to say I actually enjoyed the format. It's a nice visual you create using the words as you do.
The warm blankets full of Cholera is of course where this took its dark turn, but damn, my friend. Quite a way to say something.

Thank you for the wonderful review. Glad you liked that format. I was just experimenting, but I've been thinking about doing some other Native American stuff in this format.

Life in America at one point was Heaven. And then Columbus came along and made it hell. An apocolypse. The native Americans were living life in peace. Then comes this asshole on a horse trying to get gold for his queen. Stupid queens! So he gave the natives a quota for gold. If they didn't reach it, he cut their hands off. Columbus was a tyrant and probobly the worst person you would ever want to meet. Yet we still celebrate the holiday. He did not discover America. America discovered him.-Gary

The Azteca, Incas, and Mayans didn't exactly make life idyllic for there fellow inhabitants, but Your words about Columbus are so true.

A true tragedy that most people don't even realize the scope of, far worse than the Bubonic Plague that wiped out Between 30 to 60% of the European population.

Oh thank you so, mystery. The Cherokee suffered one of the worst betrayals in the Trail of Tears, by Andrew Jackson. My grandchildren are part Cheyenne.
