Alex I love your poem on Robert Burns. Very interesting the way you worded this. I am so glad to see you back again. I have been off and on the site for about six weeks. But I didn't see ya. Hope your holidays were great ones. Luuff Linda xxoo

What, not give B.B a six. If I did less my ol'departed high school teacher would roll, no would arise from his grave and grab me by the collar.
Ok joking aside, no need for me to go though a long review...delightful, well done and a joy to read. Tell the wee folks who complain about the language and words they are missing a lot, relax, read...it ain't all that hard. Give a cheer for BB and for your poem...you are a bit of right, I really liked what you wrote.

This is a well deserved six from me. Loved reading in the Scot's tongue. There is room for all types on Fanstory I'm sure.

Tam O' Shanter is one of my favourites. Keep up the good work. :) Jaq x

Beautifully done and I had no problem reading it because I have an open mind. Ironically Bobbie Burns has surfaced lately (don't know why). Perhaps it's that I write mostly out of my vernacular which has a Southern drawl. At first I was corrected for my writing in my local tongue and had to explain thing such as I did mean "set" and not "sit" and on and on. Continue on for it most certainly is truly delightful!

I did enjoy reading this terrific poem, and learn about Robert Burns, had not problem understanding even if I was born in Spain. My children live in Glasgow, and have three Scottish grandchildren ,my son in law read me Scottish poems, I used to spend my summers there and is my second home. My son just moved there too forever.
Thank you for this true original poem

It must have been a big job, writing all the translation. So good of you to commemorate him on his birthday. He is such a famous Scotsman and a good poet.

Ha ha Alex
I bet you get a fair few scritchin their heeds. I have family ties north of the border, but am a Sassenach. They came from Dundee and my dream was always to work for the Dandy or Beano comics there. Never happened and I have been stuck here just out side London all my life. My favourite Burn's poem is Tam O'Shanter. The lines -
Ah, Tam! Ah, Tam! thou'll get thy fairin!
In hell, they'll roast thee like a herrin!

Well worth 6 stars in my eyes as I can understand every word, without the wee sample of vernacular. Although I thought Blidy Nora = Bloody Nora. There's a song I bet you remember by Lord Rockingham's XI called Hoots Mon with the line There a Moose loose about Mahoose. I worked once with a man, in Kirkcaldy and Burnt Island, that had such a broad Glasweigian accent that not many Scots could understand him. It wasn't his vocabulary but the speed in which he spoke. Most people just nodded and said yes Bob to him. LOL

Great poem

Spike

I must say I was amused by this poem. Very good read. I always have liked Robert Burns and his poetry, plus he was very good looking. His short life was difficult, but his muse lives on. florrie
