Thanks for the education on a Lento. This poem very much reminds of Snow White. I have seen four movies on Snow White in the last six months.-Squid

Thank you for taking the time to read and review my words. Isn't it funny how there was an ugly or murderous step-somebody in so many of these fairy tales?--Wendy

I did notice your sponsorship of the contest, and well done for that'. I considered entering but doubt I will, as I can't think of a way of including meter and not making the rhymes sound forced - OK, I'm a lazy git usually. :-)

This is the third longun on the trot I've read this am, and my brain-cell is getting fuzzled.

Blimey, you sure have succeeded where I feared of failing. Terrific flow and apparent unforced rhymes, back and front of lines. To maintain the exceptionall standard throughout, proves you are the gifted poet I knew you were.

I can't recall ever giving TWO sixers running (usually my week's total), but this deserves it for originality, creativity, and I'm sure loads of hard work.

Best wishes, Ray

Good luck with the contest.

Best wishes, Ray

Well, my lord, since the form does not exact any meter tributes, I expect your entry any day now. Truly, meter is not a requisite of the form. It's just that I find it almost impossible to write any other way if there is any rhyme involved. It is a challenging write, but I don't think you are such a lazy git as you say. My family welcomed me back from Hermit mode yesterday morning and suggested I ban the Lento for life! So, someone must keep it going. I do appreciate the read and review and of course, those fabulous stars.--Wendy

An excellent Lento formatted poem. Great use of "Sates" and "Plaits". A unique twist to the Cinderella story. The artwork goes very well with the work. A most enjoyable read.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read and review my words. A bit of a walk on the dark side of old Cindy, but in all the variations of the story I read, only Disney does not exact some sort of revenge. Gotta love those fairy tales--Wendy

You are welcome. Remember the authors of certain fairy tale books that were horror stories by today's rating standards? Always trying to get a lesson thrown into the story.... MN :)

Ahhh, fitting tribute and retelling of Cinderella!
I like the story, she's deserving and was stepped on and abused...

I love this ending:
"Dread the fate of those who dared
Tread on Cinderella's toes."

Thank you Julie for the read and review. I agree, she deserved some sort of revenge. I enjoyed my little bit of a trip to the Dark Side.--Wendy

A very thought-provoking work. This Lento form is fascinating; the first one I read, for sure the content is spellbinding as well. Good bye fairy tales!

Good morning Amada, you should try one of these. It is my first, but I think It is always good to stretch. I have another two pages of the junk that didn't make it into the poem. I appreciate your read and review.--Wendy

Good morning Rodger, Thanks for taking the time to review this. As to ten verses, I think I was the original length editor on War and Peace, Les Miserables and Hiawatha.I find it so hard to write short. I really had a time with this form--my family asked if I was going to become a full-time hermit or just for this writing. I have two left over pages of mixed drek, not quite what I wanted to say and rhymes that went nowhere. Gheesh. I am thrilled that you like what finally emerged with me. Could be another two years before another of these contests. ;-) Wendy

Sighing as she sweeps each grate,
Drying tears she can't allow.
Vying with her vicious fate,
Crying out she makes a vow.

THAT DECIDING MOMENT TO TAKE CHARE OF HER OWN EXISTENCE....

GREATLY WRITTEN.
