My goodness! This is getting really exciting! You've raised many questions here - who is it? why? will he be caught in time? I also enjoyed reading about the background of the dog.

Reading and reviewing your work is revealing some things to me. I really LIKE the action chapters, more than the one that are more subdued! Funny thing for me to realize as a accountant-type female. I guess inside is the heart of a woman who would have been in the IDF if she had opportunity.
Your action chapters really are great!

This line here: "which was a boys-only school when I passed my 11+ and attended." seems a little repetitive...might be better to say, "which was a boys-only school I attended when I passed my 11+). But then this might be one of those differences between British English and American English. So, disregard if that is the case!

Blessings!
Marsha

Of course you know I'm going to tell you I liked the part about the dogs again - honestly though, this time it's not really the dogs, it's the action, the suspense! But I'm getting ahead of myself, let's back up a moment -there's plenty more before we get to that paragraph, and one IS the touching paragraph about Aunty ( the second) and Wesley - and then there are the gems: the revelations about James being forced to eat a bar of soap, his jump into a pond after a duck (and the hero's lack of knowledge about those incidents - makes one wonder what he's thinking, what he might have done had he known - great reader-involvement); the bride's shoe dropping as Goliath lifts her - these are the things that make it so real, so vivid. I loved this chapter, and I adore the ending description and suspense to lead into the next chapter. Well done!
