Of course when things are going nicely you have to throw in a complication. I think this is an excellent time to do so. Keeps the reader on his toes. Nice update on Simeon's progress, as well.

Geez, there's a lot going on in this short chapter. I suggest drawing it out a bit. Seems like things are happening too fast. Good write though.
