I agree with your notes; the Japanese captain's sentence was no more than a slap on the hand; however, he was a warrior, and for him the nurses were accepted casualties in view of the military personnel. Thus it surprises me he was sentenced at all.

Do not get me wrong, Kace. I don't agree with what he did.

Carolyn, Our older Australians still have a hatred for the Japanese that were so cruel. The Geneva convention meant nothing except casualties. The Japanese are a warrior race, I wonder what pride in killing innocent people? But then, there was Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Blessings, Kace.

This is sharing the story of Centaur in the form of an acrostic. I appreciate it as I have never heard of the ship before. Well done and good luck. PP

Hi Kace,

You have penned a fine acrostic for the contest. Your author's notes are interesting but at the same time devastating. How horrible that so many lives were lost and the captain didn't get what he deserved. You have a good rhyming pattern and your words are descriptive and express such a sad story. Well done and good luck in the contest....blessings, chey

This is awful... and in the authors notes I read only four years? Even worse. How terrible. I never heard of this Centaur...but thank you so much for sharing so that I learned something new today.

Young Lady, you write like I wish I could! This work is nothing short of excellent! Not only does it tell a truly
moving story, but it also, once again, tells of what a horror war is, and how not everyone follows the rules of the Geneva Convention. I must add, that from that I hear on the news virtually everyday, they still don't!

I'm usually not a fan of Acrostics, but I always like poems with some history attached. That being said, you have excellent rhyme and structure. Your wording is energetic and grabs you by the throat and pulls you in to read it. It's also got an excellent level of grit. Very well written.

I never heard of this Hospital ship before, until now. But you did a very good job of telling the story of how it sunk. Great work.
