Helvi, your poem is in excellent syllable count and structure for the nonet
I also like your night/light/night rhyme
Lovely descriptive detail
nice alliterative pairing of serpentine/slide/stars/sky

Serpentine pathways <<< love the words AND the picture
Slide through the stars
When sky waves
Rule the
Night
You made this as visually pleasing as it reads. Total art!

Hey Helvi2,
I've been coming across a lot of nonets on FS these days. I have to say, this is one of my favorites! Even with the parameters you are required to follow, this has a really nice flow and reads beautifully.
I loved the lines:
Serpentine pathways
Slide through the stars
I love the imagery here - visually this really works.
This is an excellent contest entry. I loved it!
Take care,
Sissy

This poem is a lovely recollection of the beauty of the Northern Lights. Where I grew up, I saw them quite a few times---some were unbelievably colorful and bright. It's a sight one never forgets and always hopes to see again.
The nonet captures the quiet beauty and emotion that this wondrous natural event creates. I especially like "serpentine pathways slide through the stars"---nice alliteration that adds to the sliding effect and the phrase creates such a beautiful visual in the mind's eye. A perfect contest entry.

Hi JP, I'm SO glad you enjoyed this and a little envious of your seeing the Northern Lights so many times. I've seen them twice in my life. They were faint, but still beautiful lights. I'm thrilled you felt I captured some of the lights essence.Thank you SO much for the lovely review. :o) Helvi

You have picked your Nonet's timing right for NASA has just launched 5 rockets at the same time to study the winds at the edge of space where the Northern Lights play with the jet stream.

Your imagery in this nonet must be right on, Helvi, because I never read author notes til after I read a poem, and my first thought after reading your words was she has written about the aurora borealis. Bravo. I especially like thinking of ribbons in the sky and the vision of sky waves ruling the night. Very well done poem. Joycexx

They really are beautiful. Where I grew up, we saw them all the time. They are truly one of the most amazing things on earth.
Great job with this poem and capturing them with your words. Looks like your syllable count is spot-on.
