My man parts have troubling with riding
horses, but I'm sure it is something I could adjust to.
I liked your internal rhyme with spurs and herds.

Hi Lee! I like 'me' much better. Thanks for the help! Rhymes with 'we'! Duh.
I always have trouble with things...I haven't been able to use a prose chest for over a year? ALL my stories have to have the poetry chest. I have asked them about it umpteen times...I give up. I think there is a problem with the site, tho Tom doesn't agree. Just too many virus's out there.
And my son says the same about riding. But it's all in the rhythm, sort of like, well...you know...:o) SO glad you liked it Lee! Suse

Yeah, I know plenty of men can ride horses, but I always have trouble with my marbles. I'm sure it is all about staying the saddle.
But that's what my first wife said, and that didn't work out so well...

I have nothing but praise for this lovely, lyrical poem. In fact, I wish had written it! Chuckle. What higher praise can I offer. Another chuckle.I particularly love "amethyst dawn" and "galloping-shrouded." On a persona level l I would wish the rider weren't wearing spurs, but that doesn't effect the poem's quality. It certainly evoked my memories of horses long gone. Thank you for that!

Hi there! You are welcome!! And I am very honored with your kind enthusiasm! Never fear the spur use. When used properly it's just a nudge, a reminder to do right. I use the ones so dull they are almost useless....just to get old lazy to walk a bit faster once in a while. LOL! I hope you used to ride...it's a joy and my life...for now. Thanks so much!! Hug! I happen to be married to a real cowboy! In reality, there isn't a lot of 'pleasure riding', it's usually about moving a grumpy herd, or pushing bulls through pasture, that kind of thing. And you are right about the spurs!

Hi Susan.
I'll tell him my Indiana pen pal says a hearty hello! We are just beginning the season of calving. All the cows are due to have their calves over the next few months. Then the month of May around here is 'branding' season. All the ranchers help each other brand the calves...quite old west! We're in Alberta, Canada. I realize this sounds self-serving, but you might enjoy my short stories called Country Ways. There are 2 or 3, I think. Please don't feel obligated to rate or review, I just think you may enjoy them! We ranch on land originally inhabited by the Blackfeet Indians. All the buffalo are gone, replaced by white man's white horns (cattle) just over a century ago. This area is rich in history. Have a lovely evening. Patti

Hi Margaret! How I wish you could come and ride with me. What fun it would be...just having you here to talk to!! Riding is wonderful, well....until some youknowwhat! Comes along and revs a motor at you, or throws a firecracker out. OR a bomb goes off nearby. Poor horses are so easily terrorized...and people KNOW it too. They do. I understand about your back. I have bone spurs that will have to be removed someday...and who knows. Most are in my neck. DANGEROUS. They say. Thank you for enjoying this so my friend...please be well....love! Susan

There a lot of horse-riding around these parts and we meet riders all the time when out in the car... but respect each other... we slow down and go slowly and carefully past the horse so as not to alarm it, and the rider always lifts their arm to wave a thanks. ... how it should be.
