Murano glass fixtures in a bar? Must be some place! True Murano glass has been prized for centuries and is very expensive. The style has been copied by some glassmakers in California. No offense to those aritsans, but if they're marketing as "Murano" rather than "Murano style" they're no better than the street vendors selling $20 "Rolex" watches.
But you weren't writing about the glass. You're a "leg man" enjoying the view. We all have our hobbies. :D Nancy

I enjoyed the way that you put the power of women crossing their legs as a powerful force and control on men's fantasies. Nice. Don

Your notes helped me with this one. I had never heard of Muranos. It made me feel like I was viewing the person sitting and watching people come and go in Italy. Great free verse! V.A.

I liked this quirky poem. It was something a little different. I loved the legs 'scissorin and unscissorin me' as the woman closes and opens her legs. The sexual overtones are deftly done. Beautiful image for artwork, the murano glass is highly coloured. Venice is a wonderful place that produces glass from wayback and I think still does. There was nothing that could compete with Venetian glass.

The imagery in this poem is amazing. I have some Murano pieces myself, among them a wine caraf and matching glasses. They are mesmerizing and I imagine add class to a bar. Bars are a brutal arena for the mortals wishing to find, with the help of liquor, what some call love. Excellent. Wish I had a six left for this one.

Thanks Deb. I didn't start out to be steamy, but she kept crossin and uncrossin those legs. Pretty soon an hour had went by. LOL

Mmm I remember Murano glass very well - it comes from just outside Venice, which is a place I love. (As opposed to Lido de Jesolo which I dislike for being a concrete jungle full of Murano glass). I loved your poem for the images it gave me and for the trip down memory lane. I thought that the use of short lines helped the poem flow, almost to the beat of a juke box and the scissorin' image was cleverly done. Friday nights for me are no longer about steamy bars, but what what would Friday evening be without a glass of vino? Dana
