The railroad was the major source of goods to be transported in this country for sometime is the distant past. This was a well written poem with good flowing thoughts and phrases. It was just a delight to have read and written this response for... John

I could hear those wheels on those rail road tracks, sharing their wonderful stories ... The rhythm of the words reflected the rhythm of the train. Great imagery created by the words. Thanks for sharing and warmest regards, Marijke :o)

I hear shades of Johnny Cash. Perhaps more than a whisper to me, but it is definitely a very clear snapshot. The rhyme is nice and I can almost hear the tune, even though I'm tone deaf!

Loved the rhythm you created, it brought the train image to life. The poem could almost be a metaphor for life, we try to appear outwardly strong ( the iron rails) but inwardly are more frail ( like trees). We all wander around, searching for life's meaning, experiencing the down side from time to time 'sleeping in ditches', we've experienced monotony, stress. But life goes on regardless.
I liked the feeling of freedom you drew towards the end, keeping straight, going home. A clever piece of poetry giving us much food for thought. xxmouse

Loved the rhythm you created, it brought the train image to life. Surely it whispered. Very nice. Your rhythm is like that of the chugging along the tracks.
I love train travel as well as walking the tracks so this poem is special. Good job. Sounds great read aloud.

It hit close to home. My friend and I used to go to the railroad station for fun, looking at the trains passing by. We didn't go nowhere and it was a great illusion. You expressed your thoughts so well in here!
