Hie, nice piece of work. I managed to attend horse racing once and I grasped nothing about it then. You wrote in a wonderful way and I managed to understand the pressure, tension and momentum. Keep it up.

I really enjoyed this read. It held my interest and you surprised me with a lovely, happy ending! Great tension and educated verbiage representative of the genre. Well done.
PS - I'm about to post Chapter One of 'KaleidESCAPE', maybe tomorrow. If you get a chance, I'd love your feedback :)

-
Ah, yes I remember - a mini-farm. You're back east? Where are you looking? Marcia
-
Yes, we are in Indiana...but I don't have to stay here. I have a big old horse trailer that can haul lots, but if I go far, I would hire help? lol! I just want a quiet place to live in peace...I think you are way out in Idaho? I can't remember! I do remember Tabue tho! OH you are so lucky to have a place to call home! ") It's so scary not having a place. Thanks Marcia! I will find something, somewhere! ") HUG, susan
-
Oh, yeah, I'm way out in Idaho. It must be scary. What's your time frame for the move? Wish I could help :(
-
Thank you Marcia! I know you would if you could! It is the thought that counts!! ") I have about three weeks...the economy has just ruined everything for us average joes...now there aren't even any places to rent anymore! Let alone affordable to buy...It cost me 16k to sell too. TOO big a chunk. I don't like realtors. Hope you are not one! Lord...xoxo, susan

Always nice when an out sider wins and any punter that had a few quids on the mare would be very happy about it winning.
I like this story and you told it well, sort of brought me back to my childhood, we had horses, pacers. We didn't do to well and they raced mainly only country races.

Hi Marcii!! HUGS for this wonderful review, and apologies for being late in thanking you! I am moving, so am busy packing and all. SOooo tired. ") It's nice that you had horses! I had a friend who had pacers. We saw one crash at a race one day...a bright sorrell filly, she was fatally hurt and I never went again, after that...she was a blond sorrell, real bright red, with the golden mane and tail...I can still see her. All those forty some years ago...so awful. Horses are all, just an accident waiting to happen. I swear. We have three quarter horses, and it's always something! ") AND bad neighbors that really add to the mix! ") Thank you for reading this Marcii!! HUG! Susan

Hi Deb! Thank you SO! We do have three horses, all are so sweet, but these horrible neighbors have used tactics that have 'scared' me off mine. It's too dangerous with people who hate you near. Horses are too easily spooked. I am thrilled you liked this Deb...and I apologize for this late reply too!! Luv you too! Suse
-
Good to hear from you!!! Debbie
-
Thanks Deb! I have been trying to find a place to live with horses, cats, dogs...no where at all! It's going to be motel and boarding time again. God. I am sorry to be late with reviews and stuff! ")) S.
-
I am so far behind too! It has been a stressful and busy week. TGIF!!! I hope you find a place-get away from your awful neighbors. Debbie
-
HI Deb! Me too, I am packing and going to have to put things in storage again. AND I'll have to pay someone to keep the horses...there is just no market for them now. I may just take my labrador and cat and travel around! HA! I wish! I'm too chicken. You take care my friend...I am so glad you are in a happy place now! ") HUG! Suse

Very nice short story with good descriptions of the emotions of the girl jockey and the race. Only someone that had raced could write with this knowledge. Well done. Anne

HI Anne! Thank you again! I have raced just in match races, no pro things at all. It's heartstoppingly fun! ") I almost went into a ladies garden one time, my horse was going so fast, I couldn't hardly stop him! ") Thanks for reading this! I really appreciate it!! ") Susan

HI Judian! Thank you and I apologize for this late reply! I am in the process of packing to move...ten animals and no where to go yet! Whew! I am thrilled that you enjoy my horse stuff! Duane is a real cowboy, I am just a horse nut? But I have ridden for over forty years...soon, well. I won't be able to anymore. Thank you so much, for this really nice review! I Love it! Susan

Very cool inspiration behind this story - it rings true the good old saying 'never judge a book by its cover!'
I love how you've got the tension building up prior to the race that is followed up with sheer exhilaration once it has begun. No edits needed that I could see! :)

Hi Jess! Thank you!! I am so happy you liked this! My old horse was so stubby, but he could fly! His chest was big to hold his big heart. And he was so gentle...I miss him too. Thanks again...hugs!! Susan

All right, Susan. I know how you love horses.
This story has all the drama of a short horse race. I found myself rooting. I always root for the underdog---Hey, I'm a livfelong Red Sox fan. Kudos to Jolene, Lady, and Susan.
Peace, Lee

Thank you, Lee! Weren't the Sox the ones who were 'cursed' and didn't they finally win one? I think it was the Red Sox...? I can't remember...And we had more snow too! Thought you might like to know that you're not alone, if you had more too! It melted today tho, thankfully. Nice to hear from you! S. ")

Hi Susan. What a really great story here. I'm so happy you used this event to tell your tale - especially since it was two females that whipped the field! You obviously have a feeling for the heroic quality of racehorses and their, very special, jockeys. Bravo on this excellent piece my friend! Warm regards...Bev

HI Bev! Thank you very much...what a kind and thrilling review! Do you like the Kentucky Derby? I always watch it and one year, a really fast horse shattered his right hind pastern, and finally died. His name was Barbaro...if you can, watch a movie they made about him...it's sad, yet so beautiful? I love horses, because they really will run themselves into the ground for their owner/rider...a one of a kind animal. Anyway, thank you again Bev, all of your reviews leave me with the desire to try to keep writing! HUGS, susan

I do remember that event. It was just horrifying. Horses are magnificent creatures and, in a spiritual sense, often represent psychic ability and female sexuality. The site of a thoroughbred is breathtaking for me. I'm happy I could contribute support for your excellent write, Susan. It's always fascinating to see what you come up with. XXX Bev
