snodlander, this is great. I must admit, while I was reading this I kinda wondered why this won the contest; then I came to the ending. You dropped me on my head and I love it. That was a true laugh-out-loud.

Great Story! And comical! There were a few misspellings, but they didn't take away from the story.
Question...neither Muriel nor the daughter(caller)could tell who they were talking to just by hearing the voice? Boy, I guess neither has talked to their real mother/daughter in a while(a very long while), hun? I know it's just a story and I really liked it. Good thought process for sure!
