I really like this poem. A proper poem, poem, if I can so term. Very nicely written.
One little thing threw me directly, keeps coming to mind.
Do you think 'mind' could become 'minds' instead, because of plural in eyes...or put the determiner 'a' in front of mind? Just a beautiful poem, it just kept niggling at me. This should win something. Very wisely written.
The sight for weary eyes and tired minds ~

I have only seen these birds in zoos. They are interesting. I didn't know their crests only occur in the spring. That's interesting. Thank you for sharing this poem with us and the information.

I was amazed when I saw a crested cormorant on the internet. This is really a unique, godly bird. And the fact that the crest is only present in spring, is God's divine creation. He has many miracles for us.

It's a beautiful Bird. Isn't it amazing
how many different species of birds exist?
I love to see any pretty bird strut his stuff.
Well done, Yelana. Nancy:)

Thank you for the great review. He is a unique bird, and a true God's creation. God has these little miracles for us.
P.S. By the way, my name is spelled Yelena
-
Sorry about the spelling. My fingers do what they want since I am seeing mostly out of my left eye. LOL
-
No worries. My name has been crucified every way possible (lol).

'A Crest of Spring', is an exceptionally well-written and delightfully descriptive piece. Penned with craft and skill. This talented poet's work was a privilege to both read and review.

The much maligned Cormorant is given new respect, in your verse! Fine meter and rhyme, a touch of alliteration, and a sweeping romantic view of the primping crests, for breeding, with each spring!

Your poem is excellent in every respect--skillfully written and vividly descriptive of this magnificent bird, which loses is crowning glory when spring is over.

Oh, I've never seen a crested cormorant. Thank you for sharing about this "spring crown" of this particular cormorant. Somehow in the summer, he loses his crown? A beautiful bird. The cormorants here have just all black feathers.

Thank you, Helen. Yes, this crested cormorant is a real godly bird, he is unique and is one of God's miracles. He only wears this crown in the spring; the rest of the year his head is bare. Can you believe it?
