This was interesting in that it was both entertaining and informative. It was written beautifully, and I'm glad you chose to share it with the community.

This poem, The Crest of Spring, tells a brief story of this lovely bird from North America. The crest is likely around to attract a mate. Then the crest and the chiseled abs both go away.

Excellent poem. I don't have the skill to critique a poem. I only dabble in poetry, but I enjoy reading other's work and I enjoyed this one. Thanks for sharing it. Stay well.

A crest in spring is such a fine staart for a pem. The bird pictured is a lovely example of his kind and I can see why he would be a bit taken down when his crest molts away. How the mighty are fallen...

As well they should, enjoy their crested affair.
Well written. Good poem. Good imagery.
Diving Cormorants are fun to watch, especially the good fishers.
I suppose, were humans to be crested, we would don them springtime, as well.
Best wishes.

How unusual and strange! So it grows each Spring again? I don't believe we have them where I live in Australia. I enjoyed your poem and notes. Well-written with good rhyme and smooth metre.

Well, at least every year he gets to be the homecoming king. Lol
Thank you for both presenting an enjoyable competent verse and educating me on this shy diving bird.
Well done, Muse. Lovely.

A beautifully constructed poem with delightful meter and rhymes, plus loads of fun information. I did not know that about the cormorants and their springtime crest. Thanks so much for this bit of news and the great picture too. I thought your poem was clever, and I enjoyed it very much. MM

Thank you for the great review, Adonna. These crested cormorants are God's miracles. God really prepared His little surprises for us.

Well written poem. I've never heard of a Cormorant before, thanks for enlightening me. I love to learn new bits of information. Fascinating that his crest is gone when summer comes.
