I hope Ideasaregems-Dawn reads this. Her cat just died and she is really grieving. She needs a new friend to love and care for. I live in the country so we can always adopt one when it comes peeking in a window. LOL Well done, Yelena. Nancy

Thank you so much. Yes, this little guy was very lucky - he was rescued literally in the 11th hour - pulled out of death row on the day he was scheduled to be euthanized and taken to safety.

I read your notes and I am so glad this cat was saved and his owner would have thanked you too. Your sonnet is well rhymed and metered and I thoroughly enjoyed this endearing story, love Dolly x

Thank you very much. Yes, this little darling was saved in the 11th hour - on the day he was scheduled to be euthanized he was pulled by a rescue to taken to a foster home. His owner in heaven would have been happy to I am sure. But so many animals like Mister don't make it. I was involved in animal rescue for 10 years and saved a lot of lives. It is unfathomable what they do to these poor animals.

Noble work you did... Your love for animals is evident in this sonnet. Do they really call it "death row?". This saddens me beyond belief.
Not criminals, these little angels... Victims!

Thank you very much. Yes, they call it "death row" (awaiting euthanasia). They have a page on Facebook ("Cats on Death Row") - you can check it out. These are cats in the municipal shelters of Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan and Staten Island. Often, they show you their last day - and sometimes it's than 24 hours. We sit down and look for rescues to save these poor angels. When I realized we may not have enough time to find rescues, I signed up for a foster. They brought 5 cats to my house at one point. Alex was frantic. He was calling me "Mother Theresa" and screamed that one of "my" cats" scratched his cat. But Alex and I are made from a different cloth - maybe that's why we've been divorced for years.
I did animal rescue from 2006 to 2016, when I sold my house in Long Island. Now I need someone to rescue me (lol). I continued my rescue work when I lived in Vegas too. I saved a lot of lives, some, like in the case of this Mister in the poem, literally in the 11th hour - he was scheduled to be killed on February 10, and that's when he was pulled by a rescue. Someone has to stand for these poor darlings - the world is too cruel on them.
Thank you for the review- I wrote you a PM here yesterday asking how you were. Now I know you are all right, at least to hold a pen and review (smile).
Hang on! Love, Yelena

Hooray!! Thank you for being that advocate for Mister/Monsieur. What a sweet face. I'm so glad to hear that he got to live a full life and did not have to be euthanized. So sad how many animals face that.

'Mister', is an exceptionally well-written and delightfully descriptive piece. Penned with craft and skill. This talented poet's work was a privilege to both read and review. I look forward to seeing your next post.

Thank you. Yes, this little darling was saved, and literally in the 11th hour - on the day he was scheduled to be euthanized he was pulled by a rescue and taken to a foster home from where he was adopted. This was 12 years ago.
You're welcome. Bless you and thank you for telling me your wonderful story.

Your poem is very well-written and moving. it conveys a powerful message about love about how, even from a distance, a really determined person can save a life.

This sonnet poem tells how much you have started liking and loving the cat named Mister which is now on death at the Municipal shelter, you have decided to pull the angel tomorrow and take to his foster home and then put up for adoption; well said, well done; post more. ALCREATOR LITT DEAR (D R)

Years ago, we rescued a female black Labrador. She was three years old and on death row. She was a wonderful dog. Not to bright, but as sweet as could be. I enjoyed reading your poem and you're doing a great service.

I enjoyed reading your poem. The photo is perfect, is this your cat? I've never owned a cat, only dogs for me. But your writing is relatable to anyone with a heart and love of animals.

Thank you very much. No, he is not my cat. He was a cat on a death row in the municipal shelter in another state. This was 12 years ago. Mister was literally in the 11th hour, on the date he was scheduled to be euthanized; and taken to a foster home, from where he was adopted out.

How blessed he was to be with a family at the end.

What happened to the dear cat, did you take him in or did you find him a home, I don't like to see a cat wasted in death, although I'm sure it would have been compassion, I wouldn't like the idea of destruction, they deserve a full with a loving owner, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Thank you, Roy. No, as I said in the notes, the rescue pulled Mister out of death row and would take care of his adoption. I saved cats on death row in all different states and for the most part, they have been adopted locally once pulled off the death row.

Oh I see, well done then, bless you
