A cute story but in paragraph six from the bottom you spelled probably like this 'it looks like proably...' just to let you know. ;)

aha. The old adage from editors, "Read what you wrote, not what you think you wrote." Thanks. I will correct that.

Thanks, if you like spoofs, check out Sergeant Gus (the last chapter in this compliation) or for more reals camping stories check "Buzz Cut" or "Smokey's Lesson," and enjoy!

This was an amusing and rewarding chapter. Have not read previous ones but that did not stop me enjoying this and also learning new things, which scouts often do anyway. Very enjoyable read.

I enjoyed this very much although I am mostly an outdoor person only at heart a good, light and comical story about little critters can steal my heart every time.

I did find your transitional sentence leaving me with a couple of questions. In a story like this I realize word count is important but I would have liked to know if any or all of the same scouts were involved in both events and how soon after the raccoon mystery did the beaver adventure happen.

thanks for the pointers about the transition. I'll have to think over a good edit for this.

Good story. A lesson to be learned. Never jump to conclusions about what you see.

I like a story with more dialogue. Even though the paragraphs were long, this I could work with.

I liked the story but another rewrite would have made it better.

Dialog is my bane! But your point is well taken. I'll have to think over a good edit.

I laughed at the end - I bet the boy scouts got very quiet and scared when the parents yelled that back. Excellent write, my friend, and good recollection of some amusing stories tracking animals in the wild.

Thanks for sharing,

That father had actually been eaves-dropping. Well, I guess you can't call it that when you are on a quiet river and some kid is shouting.
