Haha, what a great story. And what a clever idea for the booth, though I guess less so for you after you realised you were walking round with a black face. I don't expect things like that are allowed these days. Too great a health and safety risk!
Written with punch and immediacy, didn't spot any nits, and enjoyed every word.

thanks. I probably ran off to find another friend to lead over to the booth after I discovered the prank. Too long ago, but still makes me laugh. Perhaps you'd also like "Broomstick and Rubberband Bazooka" from the same era, or "Sergeant Gus" which is fiction; scroll to bottom of my portfolio and click search to find. Enjoy!

What a fun story - I love the old sideshows - have not seen one in years, but boy, did you bring back memories with this engaging story - and then the link you make to seeing yourself as you have aged just sent me into a fit of laughter. Brooke :-)

Laughter? I was serious! LOL, no that was my intent. You may enjoy "Broomstick Bazooka" from the same era, or "Sergeant Gus" a bit of fiction, both in my portfolio. (Scroll to bottom of portfolio and click search to find)

Thanks. Yes, I trust Father Time has already 'gotten' those old friends too. You might enjoy "Broomstick Bazooka" from that same era, or a bit of fiction, "Sergeant Gus" just scroll to bottom of my portfolio and click search to find.. Enjoy!

A very funny story. It's hokey, but not grotesque or stupid--just an interesting trick. Good attention to detail. I am frightened to think just how you might exact revenge on those old friends.

A mirror should do it. Father time has weighed on them too, I suppose. Anyway thanks for the kind words. You may also enjoy "Broomstick Bazooka" from the same era, or "Sergeant Gus" a bit of fiction, just scroll to bottom of my portfolio and click search to find them.

Glad you enjoyed! "Broomstick Bazooka" in my portfolio is from the same era. (Scroll down to bottom and click search to find.) Also "Sergeant Gus" but that is fictional.

Loved it! Speaks to every one of us who has been caught on the wrong side of a prank or "practical" joke. Author notes work too. Showing your age my friend :)

Hahaha a humorous, enjoyable non-fiction read. It was like one of souped up photos where you put the face on the body. Nice. The mascara is a nice added touch haha. Great job!

Very cute telling of a memorable event, keeping no detail secret. It added just the right touch at the end with your looking in the mirror.
Thanks for sharing a laugh.

Glad you liked it.
Another bit of whimsy is "Sergeant Gus" in my portfolio, also "Broomstick Bazooka" is a tale from that same era. Scroll to the bottom of my portfolio and click search to find these.
