Very nicely done. You certainly do have a gift for writing along with a certain flair. I think you should finish this as an entire chapter of a book

Really nice. Another story, another life...couple of lives, unfold in the words we create. Very few words, but much has been told. Katie's entire life, can easily be imagined through your story. Very well done.

This is a great short story. You have written a good story. The point of view is right on. I could feel the characters anguish.

"All Time Best" by the time I get to it - deservedly so. Incredible that you could tell so complete a heart rending tale in so few words. This, for me, is one of your most impressive and enjoyable writes.

    dihardest When I saw this contest, I had no idea what to write and then suddenly the idea tumbled out of my mind on to the paper. I've rarely had every detail just be there! I too was surprised and pleased with the short story. Thanks so much for the kind review. Carol

Back again lol. Are you a cps worker like me by any chance? The sadness and the poor babies in the story rung a bell that is why I asked? it was lovely

    Kathleen No, but my life travels have placed in positions where I have seen the hardships and the dark side of life.
    My own tragedies and those of others continue to dwell in my heart and show in my writing. Thanks for the kind review. Carol

    Well Carol that is a fine thing too. You see if more people remembered sad moments than they might look harder at the wonderul children that we social workers are always trying to find homes for. If people kept an open memory an open heart would follow and then I could be out of a job and that is the dream of all of us in this bussiness.

Nice weaving of all the chosen words.. The story centers on an important action with characters in desperate circumstances. God job...!

Wow! The first thing I noticed about this piece was the beautiful artowk accompaniament.

I appreciated the way you highlighted the words used.

Lovely work, Carole. A fantastic story, with a sad middle, but a happy and very satisfying ending. It is so good for these kids to have a second chance, a new start, a life with hope.
