With the world economic problems, I wonder how many desperate people will resort to this. With the American crash my husband and I lost tens of thousands of dollars invested in superannuation, for our old age. My husband, now aged 58, looked forward to retiring at 60 years of age. To add to that this week our government put the pension age up from 60 to 67 years of age. We have less super and now cannot collect a pension for another nine years. My husband has physically worked hard for the last 35 years and was looking forward to retirement. Thank goodness we own our own home and car. Things will be a lot worse for others.
This was a sad story but well written. Good luck in the competition.

Hi Freeflyer. I agree, what a mess it all is. I can relate to this poor woman in the story. Having been there, it's a tough choice to do the right thing or do the time. Unlike her, I did the right thing, but still with disasterous results.
Thanks for your review and comments. - Here's to better days for all of us. - Regards, - Thesis

How terribly sad, the choices made in desperation, the consequences of bad choices. A complete story in these few words.
You have conveyed so much of truth inside your lines.
Well done.

I thought this was a complete little story. I got a sense in the short time the feeling for the situation, the problem, and the outcome. I was curious what was going to happen.

A very true tale of desperation, your character chose to steal and I wonder how many out there think about the same decision every single day to keep their family's home. Good job

Thanks summerbreeze. I really feel for anyone in that situation. We're all only a few paychecks away from the same fate. Quite sad. - Thesis

Blimey, foreclosed for a piddly 14 grand - I spend that in a week (then I wake up, LOL).
I hope she gets away with it, but it looks like she'l need a good lawyer. He'll cost more than 14 grand, probably. ;-)
Enjoyed the quick read.
Best wishes, Ray xx

Thans for reviewing Ann. I know quite a few people in her perdicament, not in custody, but really struggling with the mortgage mess. - Thesis

I am sure that many people would love to do the same thing but because of the law wouldn't do it. Nicely written and short and to the point. All the qualifications of the contest.
