it is an interesting metre, and in this poem the loose rhyme works well. Overall a good read. Good luck in the voting booth.
happy writing.

Truely wonderful. I'm not a golfer and I hope that horses are waiting for me. This poem flowed really well and painted the perfect picture of the avid golfer. Very nicely done.

I liked your upbeat approach to death skye, faith in an afterlife can give that to a person. Sorry but I'm not much of a golfer myself but can see that you love it and think you did a great job with your poem, it was a real pleasure to read. I have had a go but kinda always got stuck at the 19th hole and just ended up watching, ha ha.

Thank you very much. I do not golf at all, but took the brothers when they were young to practice. I did not even know about the 19th hole until this week. LOL

skye - This is a beautiful tribute to a golfer who has gone to the ultimate fairway. I was surprised that you did not title this 'The 19th Hole'. Kind of seems appropriate. I enjoyed it. Charlie

What an upbeat look at death. Thank you for entering the contest, by the way. This is an excellent entry. The death of a loved one always changes life forever. But rather than being a sadness, death will eventually be a reunion of kindred souls. Excellent imagery. Blessings, Linda

I like this nicely rhymed poem and the message of hope to meet again in the fairway in the sky. I wish you well in the contest.

A touching poem about heaven being doing what we enjoyed the most on earth. Good execution of the abab rhyme scheme. However, the irregular meter threw me off. I know you don't call it any metered form, but I think it would be stronger in ballad form (8/6/8/6 iambic meter.) That's just a personal preference, though I did find some off-meter jarring. Good juxtaposition of picture and poem.

Thanks for the encouraging and positive review. I will try to redo the meter. It is very hard for me to do.

Who wrote this? One place it says "skye", whose profile I couldn't find, and the response is from Teri7. What's going on?
reply by the author on 20-Jan-2009
Skye ... me... wrote this. Wonder what is going on.
