You followed the haiku form faithfully and created a strong satori and simultaneously captured this extraordinary event. I have experienced this breaching in Hawaii and it is truly magnificent--thanks for helping me relive the memories. Great picture, colors and title.

A wonderful haiku and even more beautiful as it's borne from real experience. You've used beautiful descriptive words to tell a wonderful story.
Warm regards.

This is a marvelous haiku. Lucky you, to have actually witnessed a whale breach the water. Even if it were not true, this beautiful haiku remains serene and lovely all by itself. mslyla

Ah! You're talking this beach girl's language. Beautifully written haiku. Perfect syllable count, all lines with the proper relationship, and you paint a lovely picture, even without the beautiful photo.

Minglement, isn't the ocean the best place in the world! I miss it terribly. I lived in Australia for many years and lived the beach life a lot. And we'd go out to sea. Thanks very much for your great review and compliments on his haiku! :-)) Sue

Wow, what a sight to see! Too bad you did not get a photograph (or is this a photograph). Well, you captured the moment with your well-written poem.
Stunning!

This is one of the things I want to do before I leave this earth, see a whale. One in it's natural habitat. Loved this one. joan marie

I hate reviewing short pieces because the editor expects more from the reviewer than the writer actually wrote! This is a great little piece and how exciting for you Sue!

I have seen the same whale my friend, while watching dolphins off the northern coast here in NZ 18 months ago he did the same thing, he's such a show off isn't He! We followed him for awhile and got some great photo's, I'd never seen one before so it definitely took my breath away. Loved the Haiku of course, very nice!

I love it! To me, it has it all. Pacific ocean as kigo, mood and setting in the second line, the cutting and satori in the ending all make for a beautiful haiku.
My hat is off to you cuz!
