We don't need music to appreciate the truth and honesty of this song. Like you, I am so tired of the rhetoric, empty suited politics as usual, and the uncanny ability to dupe Americans into believing that they are getting change, when in fact they are being laughed at for their ignorance. It just goes to show that a smooth talking slick snake oil salesmen can make a good living in a country where kool ade still appears to be the favorite drink. It's time for some new American heroes, - McCain and Palin. Thanks for posting this. Jim

Very creative! It's wonderful how you were able to use so many song titles yet incorporate them meaningfully into each stanza. The content and message of the poem were enhanced and not interrupted by all the songs. Nice work!

Ever notice that most of the top hits of each decade tend to be some sort of either love or love gone wrong songs? lol I just wanted to do something a bit different! ;) Thanks for the great review! I loved the challenge of this contest! Thanks for thinking of it!

Nice tribute to your governor. My cousin went to Alaska in late May of this year. He had lived there in our youth and recently told me that Sarah Palin worked wonders for the citizens of Alaska. He says that she has made it very comfortable for Alaska residents financially. My brother's children also live in Anchorage, but I have no contact with them thanks to their mentally ill mother.
You have a right to be proud of her.
Very good essay, using her voice. Keep writing.
I would ask how to use that html coding, but I might get confused. I am not an expert with the programming end of the Internet. I do not want to mess up my computer. I envy your skills there.

Whatever command you wrote in that note did not show up. I have a copy of Internet for Dummies somewhere. I just cannot find it since I moved into this apartment. Things are still mixed up. I cannot do any lifting right now because of my arthritis.
I am sure that there are others who would disagree with you, but I critiqued it for how well you wrote it, not to disagree with you.
My cousin thinks that she is really a good choice for VP. I do not know enough about her to decide at this point. Rosy

Dear Dovey, thank you for taking what I said in the spirit I wrote it in, for one thing your an Alaskan like me, so theres that, I actually liked Mike Huckabee, but then when he nominated a woman who I have personally known and personally hated (not too strong a word) she made a twelve year old kid that I ran to the Valley ER room pay for her rape kit, thats how Obama got my vote, at that point a moose (dead or alive would have gotten my vote lol) normally I wouldnt care the vp and all but he's too old, and she may be the single most unkind human I have ever met, and after nearly two decades with the division, well thats saying something lol.

Obama's Muslim ties are just way to scary for me to begin to entertain him as a viable solution for this country. Next thing you know we'll all need turbans and a Middle East translator! lol
We were just hoping for a 'good' candidate to step up to the plate. Is there any such thing? I'm sure they all have skeletons hidden in their closets.

I dont know if he's really a muslim that always seems like some nasty thing people say, I dont know him or John Mccain though, and I WISH I didnt know her, lol. I thought you must have known her too, but knew a palin that none of us at the state had met cause it was such a loving poem, but maybe we could both just vote for ron paul he seems nice enought, and in this election, well things just cant go more downhill, but gosh everytime I see her on tv my bp goes up WHY DID HE PICK HER? you know a few hundred of us on a private state website feel kind of pissed about not being asked, you know people whov'e worked with her for the last decade or more, just seems shoddy to me. Crap. I wish I didnt know ANY of the candidates I'd be lots happier lol

sorry, hit a wrong key lol Anyways... this interview my husband heard by Obama, he made a huge 'faux pas', so to speak. He was reading along with the teleprompter and was acknowledging that the McCain camp hadn't been attacking based on his Muslim faith. (In the background someone whispered Christian faith and he quickly tried to cover up his 'mistake'.) He has been putting a show of being a Christian, of course. So, if he really doesn't have ties to the Muslim community, I guess I really don't see how something like that could happen. Other than that, he has family ties through his father to the Muslim community. Even if there is no relationship there, that is just too scary to be that close to the US Presidency. I'd say there is a reason that our forefathers included the stipulation that President be a US born citizen, wouldn't you say? Kim
