I have been in a couple protests myself, but care must be taken. I did take a look at the people being their. One was an anti-tax prostest, the second time around I opted out because the key note speaker actually raised taxes the largest amount. i didn't want to reflect the dishonesty in this. I probably did more to get him out because I must of mentioned this to hundres of people. Please, take you time, posting anouncements are invitations not requirements. Take care and thanks for stoppin by! Mike

I never intend to write a certain way, but this comes across in my mind just as your, "The Truth..." I just felt that this groups motives aren't either right or respectful in regards to society. I have protested myself and have turned down going to such protests. Some times because the people they tought are more for name and opportunity, not for the beliefs. I also put this out as a caution and maybe a protester will consider these motives and find a better way to make their points. Thank you very much for your compliments and review.

Yea! A part of you has rubbed of on me. No, jokes please.

Mike,
I agree with your piece and share the same emotions towards a group of yahoo's that have to interpret peoples misfortunes as God's wrath. But I wonder why a congregation would take their views out of their church and parade in front of the media...maybe this is their view of missionary work.

Having buried a few of my fellow Marines, I know how distraught a family can be and they don't need someone speaking on behalf of God, telling them their son or daughter was killed for distgusting reason. I enjoyed your poem. GUNNER

Isn't that a technique of a terrorist and a justification for what they do? Why would a group...? Seems to me attention, peoples reaction gives them a satisfaction and a high. Just like someone who tries to start a fight, until he realizes that the person they picked on will go for the quickest way to a win.

I have to be honest, I wanted to be a member of the military but got washed out at the recruiter. The naval school of Photography is very hard to get in and I wanted specific information and a good talk. He just gave me the, "Take the test and be a man speach. Then started to ridicule me. His last words were, "So you don't want to be a man." Mine were, "That's not it at all sir, I don't think a volunteer military will agree with me. I'm waiting for the draft and when they break me down and say, 'Oh the little baby wants out!' I will reply, "No Sir! I want to be a green beret and laugh in their face. You know what? I will and I will look you up and prove to you just what a man I can be. -I wanted to talk because I already had the photographic skills and I love base and ship photography, wanted to be stationed where my father served in Antartica. I also wanted to do mission specific photography such as intellengce and scouting. Because of scouts, I made sure that I had that skill set also. Nature photography came damn close. It proved useful when I found two people rifling through my equipment, when they expressed surprise that no one was around, I stood up on them ten feet away.

I have all of the respect in the world for military people and there mission, which I belive in whole heartedly. I resent this called Bush's war. Number one, it was Sadam who declared wor on us and threatened New York city, stamped by his parliment. Two, with terrorism, we must make a stand and also help out the Muslim people who are stuck in the midst of it. "The war for Oil," that really benefitted us, I call it the war against black mail and tyranny.

Not to tie up the airwaves too much longer, my thoughts can be felt in, "Ex-Prime Minister," I look at the published names of the military people that died, it is two to four, if it is more, very often it is an accident. On that same page I read 58 Muslim or 158 for that matter. That is why I consider this a tyranny that must be fought, tooth and nail and in my opinion, very ruthlessly. Our country takes the time to help these people out and that is why I feel as a nation, we have had God's blessing. Just look at the murder rate of Baltimore, walking back and forth to work, I bet Iraq is actually much safer. The other poem that I wrote is, "The world's Longest Poem for Peace." This was my contribution and the logic behind it is in my notes.

Thank you very much Gunner for your compliments and review. Greatly respected and appreciated.

This was a good poem. There was a strong directness to the words. You truely believe what your saying within a politcal and relegious platform. It felt somewhat primal as well, like it was the reaction to deep observation. Well done. Keep writing bro

It makes me sick to my stomach, dear Mike. Stupidity still reigns, every cretin has his own important agenda. Brainless idiots. God has nothing to do with anything, poor old guy is just being used, by mob, by media.
I am so angry.
Love,
Mila

Well my dear, I have a very large belief in God and try to respect that he has much larger things to do then me calling upon Him, I try to make my prayers count. From our country we have the flip side of protest, when the tanks come rolling in. In this country we take things to granted so much that it is only fitting that protesting shouldn't involve using other people's grief, suffering and privicy to their own selfish end. But it is still nice to see ordinary people stepping in set a few limits. There were far more police about to protect the protesters, I hope they at least saide thanks.
Mila, I don't want to see you so angry. So take a deep breath, look into your monitor and think about your knight. Oh, no! Your angry again because you spit on your screen. Sorry!
Take care and have a nice day! Love, Mike.

During the funeral of a young soldier that took place in Berea Kentucky about a year ago
this or a faction of this group had made their public announcement that they would line the streets to protest as the precession drove by
Berea College a small campus which is the center of Berea
having about 1600 students which my daughter is one of formed a defense line against these idiots the couldn't get within 150 feet of the funeral precession and between 99 percent of the students and staff along with many community
members the fools could not be heard above the voices of nearly 4000 singing amazing Grace in harmony
your poem has brought back the memory of how proud I am to say my daughter was one of those voices

Wow, this type of personal experiece isn't one that I would have expected and I too am proud that people do what they can to insulate the grieved families from protests like this. This poem is about understanding a courtesy. Thank you very much for sharing your story and this review.

Mike, you're very opinionated but that doesn't mean you're right.

Many protesters ARE PARENTS of Iraq soldiers, the sons and daughters they will never see again.

People are free in America (somewhat still, after the imposition of so called Homeland Security that voided several of my inalienable rights) and all the men and women who have died, died for that right. Yes, the protesters right to Freedom of speech.

How I wish Americans would be so mature as to realize that you cannot have one without the other. Freedom is freedom. For example, you get a five. I don't agree with you, but you get a five because you have a right to voice your opinion and you've done it fairly well, which is forthcoming in this review.

As for the family killed, I heard about that. I don't know all the details but obviously it is a great tragedy and has little if anything to do with the war in Iraq.

Here's what you need to re-edit:

You disturb innocent people's lives,
saying this is what "GOD!", because
of our sins has for us in-store.

what God what???

because of what our sins has for us in-store = should be have

Also, if you've read the Bible you should know that sin died on the cross and nothing is in store if you believe in Jesus Christ and have accepted him as your Savior.

Sweet Pea
Yet its obvious, by your prancing around
and goading, your just media whores.

Thank you very much for your review. This is more about responsibility, not the protests. With this particular church, I challenge their honesty and sensitivity. I am not challenging their right to protest, just their appropriateness. In my poem, "Ex-Prime Minister," I alerted the white house who grabbed my zero page of memory. That was scarey but under today's circumstances, I understand. I have protested myself as worked with political caimpaigns, but balanced my enthusiam with courtesy. How do these disruptions help their cause. It is usually hard work and perserverence. I also understand your point about sin, yet for me it is personal regardless, I do my best to avoid it and lean from my lessons. I don't believe for a minute that Jesus Christ came down here and said, "I took care of things for you, go about your business." I see his teachings as a challenge for us to abide by! Thank you for taking the time, it is appreciated. Mike

You are right, Mike, in all that you said in your reply, including that Jesus did not come down here and say "Do all you can to sin, I paid."

    He didn't.

He hadn't done it yet. He was still living and trying to prepare the world for that which was coming.

John 3:16 says it, though, as do many of the New Testament verses. Matter of fact, Christ NEVER said He was the Son of God. That was always a matter that others addressed or noted.

He isn't concerned with the wherefors and the heretos nor the blah blah blah ringing of BS that is constantly in the forefront and the background of our world today. He, and I, for that matter, are merely concerned with THOSE LIVING TODAY, and not with those that are already in His bosom.

Faith is a precious thing. So is your determination and loving heart. It is in the right place, and I applaud you for your courage and ability to speak out and up regarding what is right and virtuous.

    Your hillbilly friend,
    Penny
