I apologies. I wrote this when my arms were longer and I didn't have to hold the page quite so far away to focus.

But if you have not registered the font idea,as it has a great visual impact, someone like me might use it...Can I?

Sure, fill your boots

I am laughing at your story and the way I imagine you telling it to your own children to scare the living daylights out of them. Do you have children of your own ?
If so, how do they react to this story? Do you think it toughens them up and teaches them that there is really nothing to fear?

My children have flown the coop. I sued to treat them dreadfully, on the grounds that life was going to be cruel to them, so they'd best get used to it from someone who loved them first. What I hope this book does is subliminally teach kids that scary things like monsters and houses at night are things to laugh at. Or possibly it will put them in therapy for years. We all like to be scared by the daddy monster, I think. That's why as adults we watch horror films in company or dare each other to ride rollercoasters. Or maybe it's all just nonsense stories. Whatever the reader gets from it. Thanks for the review

Well if you did nothing else at least you toughened them up to face the cruel and harsh realities of life. How about grandchildren? Would you tell them these stories?

none yet, but great nieces and nephews, certainly. I would be able to leave after the end of each story. I'll pass on your details to their parents.

God! You're such a showman. You're writing is a treat, but you're also an entertainer, with your changing font size and instructions for reading. What a guy! This was again, a fun read. Love your little heroine. Reminds me a bit of Pippi Longstockings. Did I get the name right?

I believe you got the name right, but I'm a real man that drinks his lemonade out of a dirty glass, so I've neither read the books nor seen the film. I saw a british comedian use this technique once on a talk show with Mohamed Ali. He told a ghost story and I didn't realise he was dropping his voice. Mohammed Ali bought it hook line and sinker and by the end was leaning in close. Freddy Starr screamed at the end and I thought Ali was going to have a heart attack. Glad you liked it

Glad for another Bogey Man story ... love 'em. And so do my grand-nieces and nephews. High praise indeed, as children don't give a twit about your feelings. If they don't like it, you'll know it.
Thanks for the aural directions. If I jumped at the scream, I know my little grand-nieces and nephews will. The little ... darlings.
Great stuff, Sir.
P.S. I think only you and Snoopy could actually tell a story beginning with, "It was a dark and stormy night .... " and get away with it.

My next one, I think, will happen in the day, as Annabelle is getting a little tired of that formula.
I am really pleased that your little tykes liked the stories. I see these as being read out to the little ones, scaring them when they're safe with family. So their critique is worth more than fellow authors, no offense meant.
Thanks

You're a great story teller Snodlander. I liked this one a lot. If you have children I'm sure they love it when you entertain them. That was creative of you, changing font sizes within the story. You've obviously mastered the inbuilt editor. Penelope

Haha, no, I just set the fonts in Word then pasted it in. My kids are 19 and 15, so they've outgrown bedtime stories, but yes, I liked messing with their heads when they were little.
Thanks for your comments.

Did they turn out alright? It must have been very hard on them. Penelope

One of them is studying psychology at university, just to save on her therapy fees, I suspect.

that's good. Penelope

Hi there snodlander.
Great stuff here, I'm sorry I can't bless it with a six, but unfortunately, I'm not allowed to give them all to you. Nice tension build up, I thought the babysitters boyfriend was going to pop-out from behind the door.
But no, apparently she was still in her bed, and the ole 'Bogey Man' was creeping up on her.
Great little tale - I'm sure we will hear more from 'Annabelle and the Bogey Man' At least I hope so.
Regards Pete
