well, the salmon swim against the current, while tuna swim with the current... maybe birds are like the salmon... lol

very imagistic free flying poem
with smooth flow and line connection
no spag or typos

I love robins and yet didn't know about their custom of flying against the wind. So this fact enhances your Sijo verse still more in its fine portrayal of a lover returning across the sea. Well done, MariVal. Debbie

A lovely poem and you capture the feeling of missing someone so well. This one also reminds me of that Catalan shepherdess song as she asks the nightingale to greet her mother. Yours has the robin bring the love song to the narrator.

    Funny the you thought of that, I wanted a nightingale but it was too many syllables and I don't think he could fly against the wind. Robins can! God's nature is amazing.

Perhaps flying against the wind gives greater lift. Nicely presented. In my own life, at times flying in the storm brought greater happiness than writing till it called. Thank you for sharing.
