Kahpot,

This is a great poem. I am a big advocate for the elderly. Most of them are lonesome and neglected. I was a caregiver for four years and I absolutely loved it. I knew at the end of my shift I made a difference.

Well done my friend

Cecilia

Oh, the emotional implications of this one are far and reaching my friend... I do hope 'tis not a personal tune here... but, as one who was in a very similar situation in very recent years, believe me when I say: this, too, will find warmth again... not the same, but it will be there once more. :) Yvette

It is so sad for the elderly who are alone in this world. Your beautiful poem uses wonderful imagery to tell their story. Without family or friends theirs is a cold world.

There are emotions and feelings in your words that touch the reader. "Silent cry for warmth" is a fitting last line that shows how all of us need warmth and especially the elderly should not be forgotten. Excellent theme for a poem.

-Good choice of artwork and nice presentation, kahpot.
-Your note is appreciated and I feel for our elderly, too.
-You wrote a good poem about how it must feel
as the "flames burn low," and there's little you can do.
-Very good use of personification as the "embers whimper."
-A very good concluding line that shows compassion.
-Thanks for sharing this and caring.

I must admit that's a thought that I never thought of, what happens to the untended embers, the promise of warmth sublime, defeated at their very source, but the burning logs are consumed. Beautifully written, Roy

Very well done Kahpot! There is a very thoughtful and original parallel her between the dying of an untended fire, and the neglect of the elderly. Should be in a contest - it would have been a winner!

It is definitely very sad when the fire that once burned brightly is now neglected and left to dwindling embers.

A fine poem and good social commentary on the loneliness of many seniors.

Thank you for sharing.

Your little poem is interesting, and your author's note helps us to understand its meaning. Often times the elderly are neglected and need care, as does the fire in your poem. Evi
