Many teachers use a 'love rope' while on field trips to help ensure the young children remain together. I guess I'm not sure why they're out in a snowstorm, but it could happen. Thank you for sharing this poem and presentation with us.

The storm of 1888 was 1 of the worst in USA history, it went from a sunny day to minus 40 degrees. The teacher use the rope because was hard to see, the snow got in their mouth making it hard to breathe and the ice air shut the kids eyelids shut. She used the rope to keep the kids together, many other kids got lost and died. She was famous in her life time

Yes, teachers do such important job and don't get the salary and attention they deserve. I still remember my writing class teacher who encouraged me to write.

Courage and bravery come in all forms and fashions. I read about this many years ago and I am still amazed by such strength and love shown by regular folks. Children tend to bring out the best in us. I like your presentation that shows as humans we still have hope and love. Have,a great weekend Gypsy.

I read the book about this Winter Blizzard. Your poem shared one of the many heroic stories. The temperatures were drastic as the day before children were playing outside without winter clothing.
