"Silly Lullaby" is a cute poem that depicts the joy of childhood with its lively words and pleasant rhythm. The rhyming scheme along with the repetitive words make it a very suitable selection to a small child just before the eyes start to close.
Even before the first line of the poem the readers are welcomed by the playful line 'Pretty pony peekaboo,' hence setting a playful mood. The line which says, 'Creature cuties in the zoo' encourages children to imagine a lively world full of animals that they would love to watch, thus, grabbing their interest.
Some of the playful characters that are included in the poem include the "Laughing lion" and "Mommy monkey" which provide some funny moments that are likely to appeal to children. The lion's laugh and the monkey's imitation give the feeling of happiness and comfort to the readers, which makes the process of reading interesting and pleasant.
As the poem moves to the lines which are more comforting, "Silly story lullaby/ Telling tales so you won't cry," the children are soothed by the poem, giving them a sense of comfort. Whenever I read to my own children and grandchildren they would always finish with - "I love you dad/grandad"
