Hello Peter.
I like sarcasm delivered in a way that brings laughter. This made me laugh. I do not know of all the specific issues, but i do know of a couple of them. It sounds to me as though the politics could be more described as the Frankenstein monster trying to capture Mr. Bean. I have a little familiarity with British television humor. Benny Hill could possibly be included in that as well. The intellectual role would suit him. I enjoyed reading this piece and I wish you well in the contest.

This is really funny but at the same time it's a horror story of real life in the UK. I've been saying since they got it, that it won't be long before our bus passes are taken away. This government is even worse than the last one, which I previously believed to be impossible. But what can we do about it? The labour government is as corrupt as the last one, they are all the same! Well done and good luck in the contest. :) Sandra xx

Thank you so much for your review, Sandra! I'm glad you found the piece both funny and thought-provoking. It's a tough situation we're in, and your insights resonate deeply. I appreciate your kind words and support. Good luck to you as well!
Comment from Wayne Fowler
The British way of governance is comical with all the shouting. But we in the states have no room to be critical what with out demolished voting systems.
...and do you know what happened to him children, he was sent to sit on the naughty step. He lost his job and had to return all the free gifts that he was given. That is what happens to liars children" - 'children' should be set off with commas. The first line should end after 'children' with a question mark.
Best wishes.

When I started reading your post, I stopped to check the validity of it as I was in a panic that the triple lock had been abandoned for pensioners by this stupid Government! The labour party is shambolic and reckless and I hope the Pensioners survive the turmoil, as some of them need the fuel allowance and have missed getting it by a few pounds. I fear for the elderly this winter.
Your post is actually hilarious and this satire is so amusing and honest! I was thoroughly entertained Peter. Love Dolly x x x

Dear Dolly,
I trust that you having a good time. Are you on your own?
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your review! It made me happy that my post entertained you, even though it might have worried you a little bit at first. It is safe to say that the current political environment is quite tense, and we do have reasons to worry about the pensioners and the elderly during this winter.
This means a lot to me that you enjoyed the satire and found it relatable. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me.
I have a very mischievous sense of humour!
Love,

I enjoyed your humour here Peter. This Government is like a loose cannon and you never know when the next major bomb will go off. Love Dolly x x x

This "dialogue-only" story, A Comedy of Errors, has no chance in this challenge as the speakers are completely identified outside the dialogue. This post is better sent to the script section.
The story sounds almost true to form for politics though.

Hi Bill
Thank you for your review.
I must admit I do not quite understand your point. What are the rules for a dialogue-only story? And what is meant by "as the speakers are completely identified outside the dialogue."
I do not understand.
If this entry does not qualify, I am comfortable with that and happy to remove it from the contest rather than have it rejected.
Also, it would have made sense for my entry to be awarded no points.
However, you may well have a valid point, and this is a good learning curve for me.
Best wishes and kind regards.
Peter

In a dialogue-only story, there are no speaker tags identifying the person speaking. Those clues come from the dialogue itself.
What is this?
Oh, Hi Jeff. What is what?
This hole. My jacket has a hole in it.
Do you want to borrow mine?
No, Mike. For one thing it is too small. The other problem is your name is sewn on the front pocket.

Thanks Bill, picture is now clearer,.

With this, you have nailed it as to how politicians work it seems that they can't say anything without using twice or three times as many words as they really need to be able to say something. I enjoyed listening to this and it was fun. May you have a good day. By the way, I'm glad that no politicians reputation was hurt with this dialogue. Patricia.

Thanks, Patricia! Politicians do have a knack for turning a simple statement into a grand speech, don't they? I'm glad you enjoyed it and found it fun. Wishing you a fantastic day ahead!
Blessings
