Rachelle,

Congrats on winning the Your Life in 150 Words Contest. The story of your life is provocative, and reflective, and highlights the 3 most impressional moments in your life and the joy that can only come from teaching future generations.

All the best,

Eugene

Exceptional story and I can relate. I began college as a fine Art major and then became a teacher. Dye to that, I never worked a day in my life. I had to stop teaching in 2010 due to a bad MS attack. I healed from the attack but never went back to work. I miss working with young people so much. Now I try to write books and stories for them. Congratulations my friend!!

I wish I had a six to give,

Alex xoxo

I love that: you've never worked a day in your life. It's SOOO totally true. I'm sorry you end to end that gig; it's so obvious that you loved it. And I have no doubt but that your students loved you equally as much. Thank you for this fabulous review. xoxo

Were you really an opera singer? More importantly, do you really eat ice cream? I'm so impressed. I'm impressed that you admit to eating ice cream, that is. Imagine slurping up gelato, listening to Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion singing "The Prayer", and sitting around that famous square in Rome. I forget the name. Those would be beautiful nights. I hope you have them someday. I actually hope you are having them now. I talk so much crap. Enjoy life.

Rachelle, this is an absolute delight. A treat to savor, akin to the ice cream you mention! Simple, but so very telling. Your enthusiasm for your life and your loves (teaching and ice cream, I presume, right?) shines through and jumps off of the page, or screen in this case. Great job...which is why I have become a fan of yours and I can get notified when you delight us with your writing! Happy 2025, Neil

Going to live in NYC is frightening enough, so I cannot imagine the hell it would be to be a part of the creme de la creme competing with many similar voices. Glad you found your happy place.

Since I've read excerpts from your very accomplished life in previous posts, I'm amazed at how well you humorously described some of your main highlights. Also, blind entry or not, we all recognize and love your writing style. Best wishes in the contest.

A lovely humorous touch pervades this entry for the 'Your life in 150 words' contest - lots happens here despite the brevity of the guideline- with the final paragraph being a little gem! Should make it to the winner's enclosure.

I absolutely love your reviewing style. Thank you for your kind words, so professionally drafted! You're right about it being a challenge, especially since, as a teacher, I always have LOTS to say at any given moment. So I thought this challenge would do me good. Anyway, I appreciate your warm well-wishes. xoxo

Sounds exciting, the singing and the ending with tonsil smoothing touch. Everyone loves ice cream or they should, makes the mouth water just the thought. Good post.

You're so right! One of the songs in the early piano books that I use is called "The Ice Cream Cone." When it presents itself in a student's queue, I say, "This song is the story of my life." They give me a quizzical look, and I continue. "The words are: 'I would like an ice cream cone. I would like an ice cream cone. I would like an ice cream cone. Right away.' See what I mean? That's EXACTLY how I feel about ice cream." They smile, and then we have a little conversation about the best flavors, and just like that, this little rudimentary piece becomes fun and memorable.

So tell me, Charles, (1.) Did you have some ice cream once you finished your review of my mini-autobiography?

And (2) What flavor did you choose?

Thanks for brightening my day with your sweet words. xoxo

I scream, you scream, everyone screams for Ice cream. No I missed my scoop but I will. I am hung upon Klondike bars, Lol.

I liked how you wrote this life story for the contest. Lighthearted and creative but yet shows what you do. I tried pretending I could sing opera to my cats and my dogs one day, and they all started to howl. Well, the cats would stick their face in my mouth to find out what in the world was happening.
Good luck in the contest

Hahaha. You have to have a very hardy ego when performing for pets. They have no compunction about voicing their true feelings. At many of the houses where I do voice, flute and piano lessons, there are dogs who howl. Sometimes, it seems like they're singing along; other times, it seems like an ardent protestation of the culture we're trying to inflict upon them.

Anyway, thank you very much for your review. I appreciate your warm and encouraging words. xoxo
