I had no idea your college was so multi cultural Beth, how interesting that is. It sounds like you embraced this part of your life and took to college life like a duck to water. Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us, I will soon know your entire history! A fine post, love Dolly x x x

Thank you, Dolly. The books already in print, Chasing the Elusive Dream and Living the Elusive Dream take up with my life where this book will leave off with my wedding.

This was a great chapter with so many things happening that year. Thanks for giving us the global view and the changes that were beginning even in Newton. I liked that your old rival became more friendly getting to know you as a person outside of the school's competitive environment. I wonder if you kept writing to that man you met on the bus. :)) I'm sure Evan wouldn't approve.

Thank you, Helen. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. The boy on the bus and I exchanged letters about six times. He was having so much fun at dances and UFO parties I decided he didn't need me anymore.
Thank you so much for the six stars.

No wonder you didn't think I was so bad for having a few extra girls along the way, you liked to keep a few safety checks around too. LOL. Like you, I was diligent not to let things go to far. I mean, I didn't really want a relationship. I just wanted to know I could have them. Kind of what it seems like you liked. Thanks for sharing another great chapter.

Another interesting read about your growing up years, and the American education system and social life as well as the events happening both in the US and around the world. Well done.

This is another enjoyable read, Beth. You did well in describing the culture and political tensions that were pervasive in that time frame and made it all come to life. I am enjoying reading this 'diary' and descriptive story. Well done.

Thank you, Beth, for sharing this interesting and very full account of your first year in college. I like the way you include events going on in the world which contributed to quite tumultuous times and also the birth of rock music. Evan, however, continues to be a steadying influence because I sense you're still very young at heart.
There are some edits below. And, also, it might be a good idea to explain in a footnote for those who aren't American - American Bandstand. An enjoyable read, Beth. Take care, Debbie

Thank you, Debbie. I loved reading your in-depth review and appreciate your help. I learned about Elvis in 1956 and still love his music. I added this about American Bandstand.
American Bandstand was a TV show which debuted Nationally in 1957 and introduced parents to a clean-cut version of Rock music featuring teenage dancers. Dick Clarke was the host for 33 years and never seemed to age a day.

Well done. This is going to make an excellent book.
The year, 1956f, - f????????????
The west did great harm to a lot of people in eastern Europe, especially in Czechoslovakia.
Best wishes.

Thank you for the comments. I'm glad you think it will be a good book. Maybe some people from Mississippi will read it.

Again, all these chapters are six-worthy. I also lived on campus and briefly pledged a fraternity, then decided against it. I was a few years younger, so 1957 was my year, with movies like "The Giant Claw" and "The Deadly Mantis" playing downtown. Romance would come afterward.

Thank you, Jim. I didn't like horror movies. I did see The Fly and The Birds.

In the fifties, I loved to go to those movies. Nowadays, they're too explicit nd poorly written.

I guess 1956 was a very interesting year for you and for the world at large. When women have a male pen-pal or plutonic friend, most guys think of that as a Plan-B.
notes:
I was quickly accepted by my {classmate.}

I probably considered it Plan B to but I wouldn't have admitted it.
Thanks for the review.
