Dodie Rae is definitely feeling a mix of conflicting emotions in this chapter. I like the way you describe her emotions because it gives much greater depth to her character. A description like this one, "A mix of relief and anxiety washed over her like a turbulent wave, leaving her feeling both drained and restless" was very illustrative in showing this conflict.

She's such an interesting character. She can be a real hardass and also so sweet, as with her grandmother. You're painting a great picture of her, Steve.

Thank you, Jim. I felt the struggle as the words flowed into this chapter. I was bullied for a short time in school until I found out how weak and troubled this person was. Thank you again for your continued support, my friend. December is an extreme month for us at the restaurant. I will catch up of reviews tomorrow.
God bless, my friend, and Merry Christmas.

That's often the case with bullies that they have been and continue to be bullied themselves. It doesn't excuse their behavior, but at least you can understand what motivates them. Dodie Rae seemed to understand this too.

Hope work settles down for you soon, Steve. A Merry Christmas to you too, my friend.

Hi Steve, this is another tense chapter in which Dodie Rae is on edge, fearing that Carey is getting closer to hauling her grandmother in for questioning. But Mama always seems to know when she's needed and, no doubt Dodie Rae will feel calmer when she arrives. The fact remains, however, that Riley's release may well trigger more matrimonial abuse which has to be prevented. Suspense is building for next time. Thank you for sharing, as ever, this entertaining read with its underlying message that abuse will never be tolerated in Dodie Rae's world! Warm wishes Debbie

Thank you, Debbie, for this excellent review, my friend. Bay Lynn will calm Dodie's nerves I'm sure. I am excited what may come. Hopefully Riley's wife will control herself.
    God bless, and Merry Christmas.

I can really feel the tension Dodie Rae is experiencing here, I think I would be needing a drink as well if I was in her position. Her emotions come through really well in this chapter, Steve, I really enjoyed reading it.

Bay Lynn and Dodie Rae had better behave while they are together or it will only confirm Carey suspicions about them. I don't want them to be locked up like animals ... although, I'm sure they would be strong enough to break out, or ... he might kill them both!!!! No, I'm sure you have other ideas for them!! LOL. Well done, my friend. Happy Christmas, and a fabulous 2025. Sandra xx

I love this review, Sandra, as you're rooting for what most folks would consider the villain. I don't feel Dodie is a Villain. I enjoy reading the reviews and appreciate your loyalty.
    God bless and Merry Christmas.

So, Officer Carey wants to see Dodie Ray and Byy Lynn together for an interview, and he suspects a lot more than he's saying, so Bay Lynn and Dodie Rae better watch out Steve, great post, blessings Roy

I love how Bae Lynn could sense Dodie needed her. I get those gut feelings sometimes and nine times out of ten I'm not imagining it. Like the inner monolog she has with officer Carey when she's on the phone with him. Saying one thing while a whole different scenario plays in her head. Great chapter as usual. Gretchen

I have a feeling that Bae Lynn's feeling means there's some shit going down before they ever make it to the police station. Way to hang us up on a cliff, Steve.

Just gets deeper and deeper. Unable to decide what will happen soon. Decisions will have to be made. Unsure who will make them and take the others with them.

Well, always by Friday, and most times by Monday, I'm already out of that extra star, but I promise that's never any real example of how much I like or appreciate a story. Thanks for sharing.
