Ciao Harambe ,
I read the other entries but yours stood apart. I googled Regalus.
Regulus, the brightest star in the constellation Leo the Lion. And one of the 51 brightest stars of the constellation.
It could have certainly been the star the three magi followed.
I love the pulsing star , is it hard to post an animated picture as your art choice?

Thanks Tempeste for the kind words. To quote my web browser, "Jupiter is also often viewed as being the 'king' of the planets. Regulus itself is Latin for 'prince' or 'little king', and Venus is often viewed as a symbol of love, fertility and birth. As such, the combination of these objects close in the sky could have led to the interpretation of the birth of the 'King of Kings'." You can make your own looping GIF for free at ezgif.com. Just upload a SHORT video you want (I'll just do a screen capture on my phone and crop it) and then set the frame rate. The challenge is to get a good smooth loop and get it within the max size allowed by Fanstory, which I think is somewhere around 1.8Mb. I think I dropped the frame rate for this image down to 7 or 8 per second. It's a pretty inefficient format but worth it for the effect now and then. 🦍

Well done for a really inventive take on the Christmas story. It reads beautifully and I think the artwork complements it perfectly. It must be a strong contender for the Contest prize.
One small quibble. I think the name of the star is usually given as Regulus, not Regalus. It is the brightest star in the constellation Leo.
Best of luck in the Contest.

Excellent catch, friend. I was thinking "regal" due to its nickname at the king star and didn't think to check. Much appreciated.

What a great presentation, When Planets Align, that was made even more interesting by having your notes to read. A great 5-7-5 Christmas poem, entry, good luck!

Your haiku "When Planets Align" beautifully captures the essence of celestial wonder and faith during the Christmas season. The imagery of planets merging with the star Regulus and guiding men is both evocative and meaningful. Here are some strengths and suggestions for refinement:
Strengths:
Imagery: The haiku creates a vivid image of the night sky and the alignment of celestial bodies. It's easy to visualize the scene and the sense of awe it inspires.
Theme: The poem effectively conveys the theme of faith and the guidance that comes from celestial events, tying in with the Christmas story.
Conciseness: The 5-7-5 format is used effectively to deliver a powerful message in a concise manner.
