This is a nice FanStory tale. You all the needed elements to win, set in the past (1960s), a senior couple still in love, and a positive theme at Christmas to fit with the contest. The only thing what may hold you back, is the lack on paragraph spacing. If you fix that, you could win. you still may, but it will increase your chances.

This is a lovely story with a nice touch added by using the two characters as elders in a nursing care home on Christmas Eve. I know how elderly folks can fall in love all over again when meeting at a nursing home during the holidays. I worked at a care home for a month and found that those with dementia or Alzheimers cozied up to one another for the comforts of loving attention together they would be as one while they were far away from loved ones during the pandemic.
I can imagine how your parents feel in a similar situation as the ones I cared for. What a beautiful sentiment.

Hi Jesse
Thank you for your detailed review. I used to a lay inspector for care homes and I have seen delightful scenes of life long affection.
Take care.

Yes, it is great to represent the under-represented. People in care homes are often forgotten.
Enjoy the day.
