This isn't a part of history I know much about. I've seen the book Blood and Mistletoe about the druids. It seems to be a very darkly spiritual time, though fascinating to look at (from the 21st century).
I really love how you did something other than a hallmark movie scene for the prompt. This was an excellent, original idea for it! Your story is gripping, tense, and well told. It really gives the flavor of the time period and mindset. It's a great human drama.
The only thing is I wish you'd put it in paragraph format, instead of individual lines. I think it interrupts the flow of reading.
Really nicely done story!

Well, that was a different take on the mistletoe. I need to do some googling to see where mistletoe originated from. Very interesting, I guess I've only seen mistletoe in movies that end up being love stories. You're a good writer, good luck in the contest.

What can I say? Wow, comes to mind. This short story blew me away with your beautiful use of word choices. It also told a full story, which is something I personally struggle to do with such few words. I would've liked to have heard more about the actual cremation, but you had a word count you couldn't exceed. Just a really amazing story.

Wow, this creates a visual experience, actually hurts to read but can not help it, as it is meant to do. Never liked the mistletoe concept at Christmas, girls were frightening to me, why do I need to kiss them now.
