This was very interesting, Wayne, to see how Ben Paul showed the church's pastor a thing or two about preaching and that he needn't worry about what Ben Paul would say because he was only saying what God meant him to say.
Ben Paul really seemed to be in touch with the Lord while speaking to each congregant individually, for he sometimes ended up reciting verse verbatim without even knowing it. The words were coming directly to him from God.
This was a powerful chapter in showing the strength of Ben Paul's faith and ability to preach, and he even taught Sylvia a great lesson about him.

Thank you. I felt it necessary to establish Ben Paul's creds considering what is to come. So far, Sylvia only senses Ben Paul's religiosity, not his spirituality.
-
What would you say the difference is between religiosity and spirituality?
-
To 'me', having religion is a faith system that relies on pomp and circumstance, rules and traditions, as opposed to a heartfelt relationship with a personal redeemer who takes an active role in day to day walking in the Spirit of God.
-
That makes sense.

A powerful sermon, but more powerful still were the Scriptures he prayed over individuals as guided by the Holy Spirit. An excellent way of sharing the gospel through him. Very well done.

Thank you immensely! And for the six stars!
I needed to establish Ben Paul's creds. So far, he's been religious, but not spiritual.

I enjoyed the sermon and also the Gather music. I feel like I've been to church. My husband had most all of the Gather tape and recording. We used to listen to those all the time. Ben Paul took after his father.

An excellent installment of this series and you could insert all the Bible and preaching you want! It's good to see an action series interweaved with Christian theology.

Thank you so very, very much. It's great to be appreciated for Christian themes.

And thank you for it.

I've always been struck, when I read chapters where preaching is being done, by how much you sound like a real pastor. I suppose you've heard plenty in your lifetime, and you've read scripture, but it's still a bit of an art form, don't you think? And, of course, the congregation was hungry for the kind of preachin' a Persons can give.
Thanks for an interesting chapter, Wayne.

I'm so glad that Ben Paul has been able to bring some Spirit-filled worship into that congregation. You don't say if the vet was healed but it seems like so. And most of all, Pastor Bass (does he sing bass?) seems to have a new awakening in his pastoral mission through prayer! Loved your Scripture messages and the preaching!

Thank you so very much for your kind words and great review.
My intention was for readers to believe either way on the veteran. But knowing that healing everyone would lack credibility, I lean toward Ben Paul convincing him that he was perfect and acceptable to the Kingdom of God.

Sounds good to me!!

It does seem an odd thing that the junior pastor seems to be doing most of the work, but his voice alone makes it easy to hear him. This part of the story contains many of my favorite verses. I hadn't thought about how Ben Paul felt when he spoke individually to people, but it makes sense the words come from God, and he is simply the pipeline. This is very interesting chapter although it involces only one church service.

Thank you for your very kind words.
More services are planned. Here, I just wanted to establish Ben Paul's creds.

Wow, you didn't waste any words in getting things told, and I don't think anyone who reads it will need any clarifications as to what is expected from sinners. :-) Great chapter! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you. I gave fair warning that it would just be a sermon.

Isn't that marvellous, I think that scripture is particularly poignant, if we have love we have every evidence of God's existence, and yet we tend to depend on the miracles wisdom and spiritual things as proof, but no, only love is eternal, beautifully written Wayne, blessings Roy
