I can say pretty much the same for Boston. I'm retired now. But our children still face this weekly grind - and then get a little reprieve over the short weekend. Life goes on and we're in for the ride - with some much needed respite here and there. Well said!

Thanks for the excellent review and I am glad the poem was able to capture this experience that so many live through. I wanted to make the scene something more than just a New York moment, which is what some suggested; that's why I kept the imagery kind of obtuse so that it might appear to be any city, in some ways. estory

The sameness can bring comfort and reliability to some.
It can wash over you like an old blanket that wraps you in a hug. There is no picture. You refer to one in your notes.
Google, Bing, and Pinterest are big sources for free pictures. Just mention them in authors notes, and you can use as many as you like. Good writing. Karen

nice evocative poem about life in New York commuting by train to one's place of work with life all around you. Life does indeed go on. the sun rises every day. Make each day count is a good message

Nicely written poem embracing the different aspects of a life in New York. I hope you plan on adding your pictures to the piece because it would be nice to view what you are talking about in your presentation. But they aren't a necessity thanks to your descriptions.

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the poem. A couple of people mentioned adding images. I try to concentrate on the poetic images on the pieces I post here. But i am glad you mentioned that those were pretty strong. I work on images a lot. estory

That is the one thing that we can't change. Repidition of our day to day life, is mostly what it takes to survive. Enjoy it or not, we have bills to pay, and need to put food on the table. Some can't do that, so those who can are lucky. This really brings day to day life home to us. Well done, my friend. :) Sandra xx

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your support of my little piece. There is always the morning after in this world, as I have myself discovered more than once. Hope springs eternal, and it is hope that keeps us going through those long, monotonous stretches. As well as the little diamond moments that we glimpse in it. estory

Your poem is a thought-provoking reflection on the repetitive yet enduring aspects of urban life. The free verse structure, vivid imagery, and poignant themes create an engaging and relatable piece. It captures the essence of the daily grind with a blend of resignation and quiet acceptance, reminding readers of the constancy in the midst of change. Excellent work in capturing such a nuanced perspective on city life!

Your poem does indeed, capture the monotony and repetition of the daily grind.
I enjoy the way its rhythm almost echoes the rattle and buzz of the transport networks doing their thing, delivering the drones to their place of toil.

This is a great poem. I really feel like many people will connect with this and the message conveyed. Sometimes I feel like I'm a hamster on a wheel and then something tragic happens to a family in my local town and its something like that gives me a good kick up the backside to stop, take a breath, have gratitude and it really puts life into perspective. Cherish every moment we can as we don't know what each day brings. Brilliant well done.
Best Wishes
Nicki

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the theme here. We take a lot for granted in the world and life, and sometimes we need to take stock and contemplate even these little, glittering pieces of life that often get overlooked. Things like songs on the radio on the way to work, or glimpses of the sunlight sparkling in highrise windows. This is something of what i wanted to capture in the piece. estory

This philosophical poem makes me grateful to live in a country town. There is no traffic, high-rise buildings, crowded streets, or rush hour. Here, we take our sweet time. I enjoy reading posts that make me reflect. Thank you.

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the poem. I got a chance to live in both; growing up in the suburbs of New York City, and also living down south here in a rural area near Raleigh NC. I guess there is something to be said for either; the culture in NY is wonderful, but the pastoral environment down here is comfortable too. estory
