Oh, those 'forks' in the road seem to be around more corners than not sometimes... Another contemplative offering for you here, sir -- hope all's well and you're just in a reflective mood with the season... :-) :-) As always, uniquely your pen!! ;) Thanx for sharing today and keep on smiling! ;) Yvette

Thanks, Shelly. :) 4 lines behind enemy lines got me to thinking, what would Hein write? Something spiritual as well as encouraging. "When feet find song" what would you do? Resist or choose... Heaven or Hell.

I've not heard of a groom poem before and your poem is food for thought here. Our path can be good or bad, we can choose. Piet Hein stuck his neck out here to criticise the Nazi Regime which was horrendous. I enjoyed your offering for the club, love Dolly x x x

Thank you, Dolly. :) What would Piet Hein write to encourage his people? Something spiritual and at the same time send a message. So, I felt this. Behind enemy lines you either, Resist or choose... Heaven or Hell.

What an interesting poetic form created by Piet Hein, and he used these as forms of encouragement against the Nazis. That's interesting.

I love the third line of your poem, it goes along with the image you posted and the feeling you get when you write what you feel and feel what you write.

Nicely done, Jose:-) Thanks for including the author's notes.

I'm not sure exactly what the last two lines actually mean. Life is a long road, that first part is clear. Music lifts up our soul and helps us to dance but I guess it can bring us to Heaven's ways or the other way?

True! 💖 Hooray for Piet Hein to write against Hitler - even if in obscure poetry and under a fake name! 😊

This is the first "Grook" poem that I have reviewed so I need to give you this six. It's the best so far. It has a good message, we have a path to choose every day. Well written.

Thank you, DonandVicki. :) The path is the right way. Yet, think what you would do trapped behind enemy lines? You either, Resist or choose... Heaven or Hell. :) Thank you for the stars.

I look at this poem as a philosophical one. It seems to be a testimonial to likable "happenings" that one achieves (song) after a tiring journey. But the end of the journey is not an end in itself. To get to heaven seems to depend on luck (throwing the dice, so to speak) in making a choice that differentiates the path between heaven and hell.

It is a philosophical one, Shanbreen. :) If it was written behind German lines by the Danish poet Hein it would be asking each person a question. What are you going to do? resist or... heaven or hell. :)
