Author,
Your courage in writing and submitting this story shows throughout your story--especially with today's political climate.
A bold, wonderful story.
Good luck!
Best wishes,
Cindy

Thanks for your review. I wrote the story simply because of the idea in my head. Political climate be damned

Well, this is a creative way to enter this contest because although it was the same "person" he changed his identity to a she and therefore it was no longer Charlie. Good luck in the contest.

Your story is so heartfelt. I was drawn in by the raw emotion in your writing and the journey of trying to reconnect with Charlie. The twist at the end was excellent. It's a story that stays with you. A reminder of the importance of understanding and change. Keep writing, this is wonderful!

well that was certainly a surprise ending. wow! well, from "Dad's" tone in this story, he sounds like the kind of person with an extremely open mind, and if he has any objections, he will explain them to his son in way that shows he's trying to understand. An example of real love.
This should win the contest for its originality, and the way the subject was handled.

Wow, a twist at the end caught me by surprise. After an argument, I could imagine the dad walking the street searching for his son. The joy of hearing back from Charlie and the chance for forgiveness. I liked the last line. I had a lot of educating myself. gayla

I think this was a well-written and thoughtful piece rendering peace to those who don't realize there are some who believe they are no longer what they were. I am set in my ways to make a change and thankful my girls remained as they were back when. I'll let God straighten us all out,
if He exists as I hope.
