Yes, and Evan was smitten so he would make a way! I love that he wrote you that nine-page letter! The summer before my husband and I married, he wrote me every single day. I don't think he wrote a letter every again. Great beginnings of your courtship!!

Thank you, Helen. Evan was like me in that he expressed himself better on paper than verbally. I remember him writing to his supervisor and to someone who was giving us a hard time when we were selling land. His letters got the point across.

I don't think I can remember you writhing of your courtship with your husband to be, Evan, how interesting, these days are a lot more promiscuous that in the past, because of aids to pregnancy prevention, but I think virginity is still a precious commodity not to be wasted on fly by night relations, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Thank you, I think I wrote a bit about it on about six or seven years ago. You wouldn't likely remember. Helen is the only one I know whose memory is amazing. She remembers everything.

Yep, I can't even remember what I wrote yesterday Beth! Helen is one of the most resourceful and clever women I know, except for my wife, same abilities. Caring and clever. As are you Beth. Without your collective friendship I'd only partially function, but it's the Lord that is beyond amazing, bless you.

I'm really looking forward to that meeting. I was just as cross that Joyce believed that men are more intelligent than women. And Tommy, like many men totally believed it too. Hmm!! I hope you learned how to play it and beat him! This was a wonderful continuation, my friend. Loved it. :))Sandra xx

Thank you for the nice review. It is posted. I wonder if Joyce ever changed her mind that. We haven't spoken in years.

I find your life story very interesting , and when things are meant to be, they will happen, and God certainly does bring people together. Looking forward to the next.

Beth,

What a great story. You are an awesome story teller. This book flows nicely from the beginning to the very end. It is a damn shame woman had to fight to get the same recognition as men do. Even in today's world women have to work harder for the same recognition.

Well done

Cecilia

Thank you, Cecilia. I'm so glad you are enjoying reading my story. When I worked, I had to train men for the job and then they were paid more than me.

    Beth,

You're welcome. That is wrong on so many different levels. That inequality still exists today.

Great chapter, it leaves the reader wanting to hear what will happen with these two and when, I guess he poured his heart out on paper to you. you made him feel comfortable.

This is so enjoyable, as are all your chapters. I'm especially excited to read your next chapter as New Year's Eve was my Anniversary. I'm glad you chose to post these at this time of the year.

Writing letters is a thing of the past. I used to enjoy writing to pen pals. Their names and addresses were in the newspaper. I met interesting boys and girls who lived in different states.

This is a very interesting chronicle of your life. Future generations will be able to compare your life in the fifties with what they experience in their time. Things are already much different. Teens don't have to wait on snail mail. They can just text or talk on the phone.

This is true. No one with think of doing all the inconvenient things we did back when we were young. I guess most people did have telephone. My family got a phone and a television as soon as I left home. I wonder if they waited deliberately.

I saw the name Shelby and thought to myself , "we may have a winner." I'm excited to read the next chapter. I had similar views about men and women. Knowing you aren't as physically strong is one thing. But thinking your brain is inferior is messed up. Who teaches their children that kind of thing. I was as dumbstruck as you must have been. Loving this story. Gretchen

Thank you, Gretchen. The old man named Shelby in our town was related but they didn't realize it. The first Shelby that came to this country in 1700's was named Evan and the passed down. There are many with that name. I'm glad you like my story.

I can't wait for the first date. Thank you for sharing your memoirs with us.

Mom and Dad were 5-years apart in age, so. I decided it couldn't hurt to write back. (omit the period after 'so')

His sister Joyce was slightly younger. (sister,)

Thank you, Barbara. The first date was a little awkward but not enough to discourage anyone. Thank for the review.
